  1. Can any one have a look at theirs for me?
  2. Hi, I have a '97 Golf VR6 with the twin airbags. Previously to me owning the car, it had a MOMO wheel or similar fitted and as such the wiring for the air bag was disconnected and tucked away behind the dash some where. Now it has the standard wheel (with airbag) fitted. The trouble is I cannot find the wire for the airbag! So I can't plug it back in. Does anyone know where the wire for the drivers airbag comes from so I can trace it back?
  3. It's very hard to check as the connections cannot be easily accessed, but i'll have a go and get back to you
  4. Yeh that's what I thought, I had a look at the big earth block on the a-pillar but couldn't see any thing obvious. Is there any test I could do to find the faults? (I have a multimeter) Or any other things to check? Thanks for the help so far
  5. Ah I see, guessed it was something like that. I have fitted new bulbs and disconnected the Climatronic unit in an attempt to reset it, but the unit still fails to light. My new idea is that there may be a problem with the illumination feed as sometimes the back lights on the clocks fail to light up (eventually does after about 5-10 mins of drving) and also the hand brake warning light often flickers or completely fails to light up. Could they all be connected some how?
  6. Yeh i kinda guessed it meant economy! I meant in technical terms, what happends when I press it? They are the standard bulbs, got them from the stealers yesterday. I'm thinking of diconnecting the battery to see if it resets it some how.
  7. My climatronic system fails to light up. When I bought it there were no bulbs in the facia panel, I got the new bulbs today from VW and still nothing, has anyone got any ideas?. The panel has been replaced at some point with one with the ECO button (what does this do by the way?) would this have something to do with it?
  8. Got mine from GSF, they had both types on the shelf. Can't remember how much though
  9. Yeh thought about that, but I wanted to do it properly lol
  10. Reckon it's gunna be bonded in, so would be a bit of a mission to do. Managed to get hold of a GTI boot lid anyway in near mint condition (same colour too) for a very reasonable price, so problem solved
  11. Good day, My Golf VR6 have some rust on the boot lid and I have the chance of getting a Golf CL boot lid in very good condition and in the same colour. As mine's a VR6 it has the spoiler which is fitted with bolts through the glass. The CL boot glass does not have the holes for it so I was thinking of swapping the glass over but it looks a bit tricky. Does anyone know how to do it, or am I better off holding out for a VR6/GTI spec lid?
  12. Cheers for the reply, I ended up just taking the fuse out. My heart was in my mouth when I first started it, but it ran sooo sweetly. Well pleased with it
  13. Good day, I've just changed the timing chains on my new VR6 - hopefully going to finish it tonight. I was thinking that it would probably be best to crank the engine over a few times on the starter to get the oil pressure in the new tensioner up before i let it run on it's own steam. Just wondering what the best way to do this is on a OBD2 VR6? Fuel pump fuse out job? I used to take the + lead off the coil on my G60 but the VR6 obviously has a coil pack. Thanks in advance
