  1. i believe its alloy but it does look like plastic i will double check tomorrow. its not the tensioner bearing its def head related checked this morn. how hard is it to remove cams on these engines first time i have worked on a vr6 engine. rather than hit them with a hammer i will just buy new ones.
  2. I have started my golf up the other day after i had done my clutch and thermostat. i have noticed a tapping noise coming from the engine but normally on everyother vw i have had they do it when cold ie tappets. But mine is not that noticable when cold, its when it gets warm it gets worse and its coming from the drivers side of the engine not the passenger side. Anybody got the same issue or had the same issue ? its just had a service a month ago so cant see it being the oil as its still golden.
  3. i had this problem with my friends lupo gti was charging at 18.5v. so fitted a new altonator.and no charge. so i got another new altonator after checking all connections. then i traced the wired that plugged into the altonator that works your battery light battery on dash as that didnt come on. but turned out to be broken wire down near the front inner wing.i soldered the wire back together now charging sweet 14.4v. so just follow the blue wire and make sure that is not broken.
  4. i have finally got the driver door open hooray!!! it was something in the lock that had jammed. took the bloke a hour to get it open. and the main thing is there is no damage to door or door card!! plus done some electrical work on his range rover so didnt cost me nothing either !! smiles all round now to get ready for the billing meet!!
  5. may pop along this tues if weathers fine ! As its 15 mins from me.
  6. sorry folks i dont know if i will be able to attend now as i was made redundant on fri. So depends if i can find another job in time. so mine is a maybe at the min. sorry for the trouble caused.
  7. do you mean to apply? i hear it was a pain specailly to get a very high finish for the standard of boats. But they were spraying wood and grp!
  8. we use it at my old work to spray the dashes in our boat. it feels really weird but finish was good.
  9. i have 17's on mine too no problem and it is quite low.
  10. one of my cables is broke that goes to the lever that you lift up so you can tilt the seat forward. does anyone =know where i can get the cables from ? also is it hard to change ?
  11. i would go with craggsy on this genuine all the way i have had cheap ones and they dont last long. i didnt seem to have much with magnacore ones as there made at a factory in kettering. after they had been on and off a few times and you would get a misfire on tickover. brought genuine ones and ticksover sweet as a nut and i use iridium plugs as there better than standard bosh super 4s by far.
  12. looks like engine management light to me.
  13. I was told to try genuine vw discs and pagid fast road pads and they did work very well even after a hard session no fade or juddering after. but the discs were quite expensive from what i can rememeber. brembo, pagid are good
  14. the bumpers have been done over a year ago by him. as someone else was going to spray it.but he used a two pack glue to fill teh line around the bumper. i also smoothed the front indicators, rear wiper,vw badge. i must admit i do love the job he has done!! everytime i get it out the garage it brings a smile to my face. i was recommended by a friend who used to work for him its called fx paint in kettering.
  15. another unlucky thing that happened to me in my last corrado was i got caught speeding by a unmarked police car on the way to my mates in spalding. it was a red skoda oktavia he got me doing averageing 111mph in a 60 then follewed me and got me doing 125mph in a 50 only thought i was doing about 80mph so got ban for 6 months lol. but yes the golf is a more pactical and the corrados are nice i would still love a corrado vr6 in white.but not after my bad luck i wont own another one.
  16. i had weitec on my corrado and found them to be one fo the best suspensions i have had. i have avos on my golf at the min i would not recomend these!!! so think i may be getting some weitec for the golf end of the summer.
  17. http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg550/mushtech/IMG_0018.jpg car http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg550/mushtech/Picture142.jpg wheels there u are!! i thats it just just got back after it had been painted. yes i prefer to remove and fit the parts as i know some body shops just bodge stuff. I also forgot he refurbed the alloys too in the price. but yes i even had to remove the roof lining so he could get a couple of dents out the roof. i also paided him £100 to smooth the front and rear bumpers. so £1700 in total but worth it!!! I would dred to think what it would of cost me if he do
  18. i must admit it did look nice. and a great shame i totalled it!!!! must of been time for a change lol
  19. think i will always be a VW fan. had one ford and never again!! heres a pic before. its just had a repray and many new parts. just had the interior to put back together and waiting for my other wheels to come back from polishing shop. http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg550/mushtech/Image0002-1.jpg
  20. i had a few people say it may have been a cut and shut. but trust me it wasnt i had it checked out before. plus it was a very weird corrado it was a 1.8 16v but had a vr6 fuel tank and pump and boot floor was higher. It had abs,vr6 bonnet and late leather interior. was different to my other 2 16v corrados i owned previous. i know that some parts may have been changed ie bonnet and late interior but the fuel tank and abs were def factory. i got told that it was the weight of the alloys in the back that make it split in half as i hit the tree level with drivers seat. i am one lucky man!!! i wi
  21. this happened in 2005. the funny thing is i remember putting my seatbelt on when i left work as i was on the way home from work. but yes i am very lucky. even walked past it when i went to collect it from the recovery place i just didnt reconise it.
  22. i know this is not a vr it was only a 16v corrado but i thought a few of u folks would like to see these pics. I cant remember what happened i was knocked out for 1 1/2 days. and i had a scrape on my leg from where i think i caught the seatbelt as i was thrown out the car!!! they said if i had been wearing a seatbelt i wouldnt be here now!! but i really dont know how i got out this one alive. i didnt seem to have much luck with corrados. my first one got hit up the back then some chap hit me head on.they were seperate incidents so that got wrote off twice. so went and swopped this for a mk1 go
  23. ihave owned the car for just over four years now. so i had old log book and i recieved the new style red and blue one last year. so its not a fake. but surely if it was a import the clocks would be in kmh not mph . surely the insurance would of picked it up when it was wrote off and i claimed on insurance as it was not my fault. or can they not trace that?
  24. can i tell off the chassis number if its a import? just noticed it says on front of log book under special notes. declared manufactured 1998.
  25. its says date of first registration is 12/12/2000 on log book. then underneath it says first registered in the uk in 12/12/2000. so u think it may be a import? is there any other way i can tell. as my mk1 golf gti i had that was a import as i had the original vw invoice from new in german. but dont have none of that with my vr. so u think i may be able to change the number plate? but the one on it now is quite smart. but it would confuse a few people to see a mk3 with a W reg plate on !!!
