  2. No probs - they've rescued me again with a fast turn around on a broken coilpack I discovered this morning today too. Car's back & free Voodoo stickers too. Happy days
  3. I was surprised to find a really good VAG garage so close to me after some random Googling. The guys there are sound and have sorted some previously bodged work on my wheel bearings / axle from another garage. I'll definately be going there for any future issues, and services. Courtesy car was offered & kindly accepted, cruising in a little lowered mk4 Polo for the day was quite fun They are happy to take on major work too, such as engine conversions (after a day driving a Polo again I was dreaming about 1.8T conversions!) and also specialise in Air ride suspension. Have a chat to Ellie t
  4. Cheers once again for the comments, I'm not sure where the bearings were coming from - I'm booked into a garage at Bovingdon which looks promising - I need the belt tensioner bearing doing too anyway.
  5. Rear bearing has gone on the wonk again on saturday, I think that is the 3rd one on that wheel in the last month now - any recommendations for garages local to Hemel, Herts?
  6. should be picking up a set of 195/45/16s for just over £100 tomorrow - looked at the ones on tyrestretch.com, they look tidy enough - happy days
  7. I've got a similar question on tyre sizes at the mo - I'm picking up a set of 16" 6.5j wheels on saturday & wondering what width tyres to get for these. I just want a tidy fit & a low profile (40 to 45mm?), I currently have a set of the standard BBS 15s, with 205/55 or 205/60 on them I think, & I'm not lowered yet. Blackcirces.com has thrown out : Toyo Proxes T1-R 195/45 R16 V (80) £63.88 Would 195/45 sit ok on a 6.5j wheel?
  8. Mine? Not brilliant mate tbh. I think the tyres are decent all round with a good few mm left in them, although different brands I believe. Alloys up front are alright, but the rears have some quite bad rash across some of the spokes & one of the bubbly old BBS caps went awol recently. I hate cleaning these wheels, so I'm on the lookout for a set of solitudes or something equally easy to clean
  9. "Just because you take your foot off the accelerator doesnt mean you need to apply the brakes" This... I hate this!
  10. Got some time to clean the VR & get a few pics finally. The dreaded discs lol... they're on finally & all bearings intact for now.
  11. Nice, interested to see these unveiled .. and also I keep looking longingly at your Mono's
  12. Yeah there's a line here between: - an interesting & subtle little mod - looking like a complete tit who thinks his VW is a Merc I'm not sure I know where that line is Anyway I grabbed my spray paints before everything I own went into storage, so I might just give my current badges a little going over at the weekend & see how they turn out.
  13. Nope, still going gently with the VR at the moment and I've never been up to Santa Pod, wouldn't mind going (if just to watch initially), but I've got 8 years of womanising & drinking to make up for & I feel like making a start this weekend
  14. Googled some more inspiration .. slow day at work today already Get 2 BMW 'M' Badges, flip one upside down to make a 'W' with the 3 colours streaks following it, chop the second badge to make a tidy little 'V' & stick it in front. Or try finding a similar styled 'K' letter & stick it between the M & 3
  15. For some reason I was thinking about badges last night - and admiring a blue mk3 from PVW a good few months back, it was from the US & had quite a few nice touches (but some dodgy LEGO style 18's). Anyway, the one thing that really struck me was the chopped up 328 badge from a BMW, it had been modded a little to read '2.8' & stuck in place of the normal 'Golf VR6' badge on the boot; I really liked this little mod Last month there was another Mk3 VR6 turbo, haven't read the full article, but he had done the same thing, but with a tidy little Porsche 'turbo' badge instead. Needless to s
  16. Fortunately the VR6 is back & all bearings intact so far, got a 30 mile run in it this evening, wish me luck ! No need for me to plaster pics of it onto the Mit, although that was obviously a great idea 8-)
  17. It should be out by then, just having untold grief getting the rear wheel bearings sorted after a brake upgrade, they keep popping after a few days :-/ What kind of a pleb would I look at VR6 meet with this though lol..
  18. My courtesy car is a 'Space-Star' apparently - it's better than walking, but only just
  19. If it's out of the garage & I'm not driving this god-awful Mitsubishi I'll get over there
  20. Yep, the other wheel bearing dissintegrated just a few miles ago - it felt kinda floaty on my way over to Watford, then let go on the way back - grinding like a bitch again now Supposed to be moving stuff out of my ex's tomorrow, but I'm screwed now since I really don't want to go anywhere apart from the garage with the VR6 making that racket again. Gotta try & forget about it all for now & get some much needed kip.
  21. I thought there was a factory produced Mk3 VR6 2.9 Syncro? Good luck finding one though!
  22. Loving the Vento nose, looks good all in red. I'm quite keen on the standard mirrors tbh, but yours are certainly something different!
  23. Car's back & all seems well, for now at least. I'll give it 50 miles from now & then give them a little work out
  24. The 16v looks awesome, well tidy Welcome Dec!
