  5. cheers guys, the spax coilover kit shoots the price up to £720 fitted, anyone recomend a good cheaper kit? and the only reson im sticking to spax is that i can get them fron an indepent shop and the only charge £20 an hour fitting but will only fit thing purchased from them other wise ill be looking at £50-£60 from another garage
  6. just after abit of advice, im going to lower my vr as at the mo it sits high and suspension is well bouncy and was wondering weather to go with a full kit or just springs ?? ive been looking at a SPAX vsx fixed rate kit £350 fitted or just the springs for £220 fitted both with a drop of 35mm, or shall i go 40 mm? whats your thoughts please? cheers
  7. cheers Just had another listen with a screwdriver (next door think i have now lost it) and you can hear it on both sides of the engine but more so on the altinator side,(left) but also on the right back near the coolent flask ,the sound reminds me of a motocross bike chain tensioner almost like a chain rubbing alomg/hitting plastic didnt need to worrie about the tie its a vr6 not a TT :-p LOL
  8. ok ive sorted most of the above but the tapping/rattle is still there, i dont think (hopeit isnt ) the chains as it only rattles on accelerating rather than on overdrive, lifter maybe???? do ya recon an engine flush will sort it??
  9. got my vr on the road yesterday and its now my main family car as i sold my meriva this afternoon, BUT i decided to go for a dive with the kids and after about 10 mins it started running BAD, mifiring, juddering, not reving over 31/2k and worst of all a tapping at idle which turns into rattle at higher revs also sounds like there is air blowing from the back of the engine (hissing) and a sound like running water in the same area.Is my car dying??????????????? PLEASE HELP
  10. i have a set of 17's with good tyres sat in my garage from my old car and i need 3 new tyres on my vr so i was just gonna whack the 17's on the vr but i dont know the fittment of the 17's, my old car the fit was 4/100 but they are the multifit ones that will take either 4 or 5 stud, so does that mean they will be 4/100 and 5/100 also will they rub? the suspension is still stock, thanks

  13. not to sure about the mounts but dont recall the engine being easy to move and ive spent enough time under there but ill drive up to the garage tomorrow and check
  14. cheers bud yes it stays in gear when it does it but no noises from the gear box yes when i touch the accelerator on and off the is a feel of a knock but no noise if that makes sense and the gear lever doesnt move changing gear feels smooth as except in first it feels like the lever is to far forward but this is probally normal as my vaux is very short between the gears the bang it makes is very much like hitting a pot hole HARD but definatly wasnt one ;-) the guy at the garage i used said it may be the torque bar ????? never heard of it myself but as long as im not to hard the the clutch its

  18. hope this is in the right place. got got my vr out of the garage and took it out for a spin before it goes back in, i was giving it a bit of pasty in 1st and change quickly in to second and there was an almighty BANG it had enugh force to make the cd jump, its also does it 2nd to 3rd but not as bad, does it sound like something major or just the torque on the engine , thanks
  19. whats the best way to get the black exterior trim back to black, its only the rear trim on the bumper that has gone grey but ive tried the back to black spray, gel and the auto glm stuff but after a day of rain or good sunshine it fades again cheers dru

  22. hi all im a noob vr6 owner and just wanted to say HI and get your thoughts/ ideas on what ive got! basically ive wanted a vr6 since i was about 10 and finally can get the insurance cheap enough the get one so i did. Its a 1995 m reg standard vr6 150k on the clock full vdub service history every 10k all reciepts from new and only had 2 owners the body work is immaculate the only real mod is a badgeless grille (or did they ever do them like this fron factory) engine is smooth as no noises whats so ever! would anybody be suprised if i say i paid £800? also im wanting to keep it as standar
