  1. its under the thermostat housing on the bell housing of the gearbox

  3. if you have your chip code with the original keys you can do it with VAG-COM, but if you dont then its dealer

  5. thought that was what your chains sounded like when they want attention
  6. Most back boxes will be Sports oriented and designed for the centre section it's supposed to go with , so would be a different diameter than the stock bit, so you'd either need to get somewhere to make a reducer section for a manufactured backbox, get the whole exhaust changed or go somewhere like powerflow that do custom exhausts, they would then build one to your exact requirements, also with that route if you wanted the mid section adding later they would be able to re adjust their backbox to match the new centre too
  7. That ranks pretty high on my "worst things ive ever seen" list
  8. My t-stat housing has started to leak so i need to replace that, but while im in there im gonna renew the whole lot so its a one shot everything done job. And cos ive read so much that the plastic crack pipes break if you look at them im going to replace it with a metal one, Do C2 still do these? theres plenty of guides around on how to do it but i can find specific part numbers for what i would need, i understand that this is the list i would need, off the vortex guide for a mk4, is this correct for a mk3 too? Thermostat Housing Thermostat Housing Seal Thermostat Thermostat Cover ECU Temp sen
  9. They do run hot, but as a precaution on a new to you VR6 I would advice that you change the oil for new, mine had dirty oil when I bought it and I saw temps of 104 on the mfa, an oil and filter service and the oil temp never reached 100 again
  10. yea ive just had a look on mine, didnt have my car yesterday, without taking the plastic arch extension off it definitely looks like it should squeeze between the metal and the plastic, then it meets on the leading edge of the bumper at a little zig zaggy bit. I installed mine without the plastic extensions on and they just fit into place, then put them back on after

  12. Just got my car back and it's like a new car! It's like everythings been upgraded, it feels like it accelerates and brakes sharper, it turns harder and before it had a bit of a tendency to wash out but now it grips hard and if you give it more power it turns harder, the gear change is massively improved too. Best upgrade ever!! I also put the 3 bolt cover back on as it fit fine and thought it might prevent the bolts corroding a bit. Looking at it I don't know what his problem was, it's pretty obvious what goes where
  13. i think it goes on both sides to kind of grip it
  14. yea i really wanted to do this myself, i like to do things myself then i know they are done to my satisfaction, not saying anything about the guy that did it, but im like that with everything, im gonna see if he still has the old ones and take a look myself when i pick it up later on, cant wait to see the difference
  15. ok cheers, im not doing it myself as i didnt have the facilities, ive rang my man up and told him whats what, he still didnt sound too convinced lol
  16. when i did mine i tilted them toward the driveshaft area and put the edge above the arch lip then shoved it into place
  17. Im installing the front mount and just want clarification that all i do is take the big bolt and washer off the bottom of it, place the whole new mount in the subframe cup and just do the bolt and big washer up on the bottom. Its just the OEM one is a 3 bolt setup and want to be ensured that this 1 bolt mount is 1 correct and 2 sufficient cheers
  18. You should be able to pick up some high tensile bolts from a local engineers shop, you need spacers too
  19. No these ones Item #: 110695519023 Or these and you choose your colour too http://www.brake-lines.co.uk/volkswagen-golf-mk3-2-8-vr6-rear-discs-1992-1997-from-1h-sw560-001-hel-brake-lines.html Stock mk3 rears are not banjo they are screw on
  20. according to the internet the 288mm and 312mm calipers have different threads, so you would need the hoses to match the callipers you have.
  21. itll get even easier if you remove the carbon cannister from behind the bumper
  22. If it's for low pressure it'll be the right one as you're looking at them
  23. the aim is to shield the heat from the intake so yes, it does what it says it does. paper panel filters are the best for flow yes.
