  1. no, i bought the 15mm and it hasnt been an issue at all, but you do need 19mm oil resistant pipe
  2. on the newer VR6 they have rounded end one piece connectors and the early ones have square two piece connectors, i would assume the gti will have followed the same update path
  3. fisrt start of the morning a loud ticking is normal as long as it quietens when warmed, chains going will sound like viciously shaking a jar of marbles and most audibly at about 1500 rpm. sounds like you are just experiencing the normal scenario to me. do you know what oil is in it too? as thinner oil will make it worse when cold
  4. no, the catch tank is a greddy copy it was £15 off ebay, the 19mm oil resistant piping was £10 off ebay too. Its fastened to the multi plug bracket on the back of the engine
  5. two bottles of VW G12plus plus (3 litres and the rest water) is enough for all year round, the more water in the system the better as its a more effective heat transfer medium than the G12plus plus, all the G12 is for is to stop the water from freezing. G12 does do other things like corrosion protection and also has a certain amount of "self healing" property that will seal up any minor problems on the inside of the pipes. Dont use others that say the are compatible, go for VWs own, its the best Oil the cheapest and most will say is best (myself included) is quantum synta silver, get it from a
  6. been watching this from the very first post, i was hoping for an engine fired up vid lol
  7. The sun was out all day today so I took the opportunity to give my wheels a proper clean and protect. Excuse the state of the body, its turn will come but today it was just wheels as they hadnt had a coat of sealant for about 6 months! before terrible! after much better
  8. probably fiming it cos its the slowest overtaking move in the world!!
  9. how are you currently set up? i have a catch tank that re connects up to the original point on the intake, the catch tank serves as a condenser for the oil which is vapourised in the air, this is obviously heavier than air so it falls into the catch tank, then the now oil free air goes back into the intake. This is the correct way to setup a catch tank on cars designed to recirculate any air that has passed through the maf, as the ecu uses this information to determine parameters, so venting the air to atmosphere the ecu actually thinks theres more air accounted for than there actually is.
  10. Are these dor the front windows, if they are for the back is your car 5 door? The 3 door rear window seals are built onto the glass and cant be replaced its a new window if you want a new seal. The only seals I could find were genuine ones when I replaced my front ones and they were about £50 a side iirc
  11. Undo he bolts on the hinges, lift the door into position and do the bolts back up nice and tight, done
  12. You're all missing uk-mkivs Whichhas to be one of the better forums not full of arseholes
  13. Depends if you want to properly recirculate the air back into the intake to maintain a sealed system or just vent the crankcase air to atmosphere along with the awful fumes that will fill your cabin every time you are at a standstill
  14. not direct no, i think it uses different cable ends and the firing order is laid out differently
  15. really a flush of the pas system is to empty it, which you would be best to disconnect the pipe that runs along the front, then with the wheels off the ground steer all the way right and left a few times which will pump the fluid out of the rack, then fill it up with the proper stuff and bleed and circulate it then empty it again until there is no sign of the presence of the undesired fluid, so in this case it would be till the fluid is a clean green colour not contaminated by any pink aft. To bleed would be put the front wheels in the air with the engine running and slowly turn the wheel from
  16. hehe, take the plug off and have a look in the connector, its a dummy!
  17. what car did the visors and handles come off or do you mean they are factory black bits for the mk3?
  18. so using the Mk4 ECU can you vagcom it as normal like a factory Mk4 R32? if so does this mean you get a load of interior errors that you have to ignore as its not a full mk4 interior too?
  19. The headlining looks awesome, did you spray up the rest of the plastic headlining furniture (handles, sunroof vent, light, switches, visors) or source some already black ones form another car? How did you get the sunroof trim strip black aswell? Dye?
  20. dunno about locally, the internet is way cheaper with all the car audio warehouse websites, you can get a £350 head unit for £250 easy on the internet. Alpine and pioneer are very good quality and powerful, ive had many different head units of many different makes, (all well known big brands no alba etc lol) and pioneer and more so alpine now (the latest pioneer range you have to pay more to get the features) are the brands that ive kept going back to. People always say they want a head unit for about £100, but think about this, it will be listened to every time you get in the car, day in
  21. take the top of your pas reserviour and wipe the dipstick on a white tissue, the fluid should be green, if it is pink its been filled with aft fluid which as said above can ruin your whole pas system. you need to flush and refill it with VWs own power steering fluid which the newest version is called G00400. This way you will also know that if the pas fluid is the correct green colour, then the fluid you found did not come from the pas system
  22. Have you used it yet? Would you send me it if you haven't and I'll save it and send you it right back. It's a rare random gift from login bonus or randomly appears as the bonus you get with every 30 cars in your garage
  23. has anyone got a gold chrome paint yet? ive got like 30 silver chrome but not one gold yet
  24. 6 hours for the whole car is good going and nice result, what polish/pad did you use in the end?
