    mainly it is 100cc more displacement and the ECU is mapped for 98RON petrol out of the factory, factory golf 2.8 is factory mapped for 95RON, the first thing you want to do when getting a remap is get it mapped to utilise Vpower, it will make more power just off that

    my brother had a mk5 fiesta zetec s with a ford racing puma inlet on and yea come to think of it that did sound good, it was all deep induction noise

    oil fill hole is a 17mm allen key plug on the front of the gearbox, the drain hole is the same type plug on the bottom of the box next to a little VW badged plate, takes about 2 litres of 70w80 or 75w90, dont use gl5 itll eat your brass synchros. You fill it up on the level till it drips out the fill hole

    This is due to VWs (in my view) stupid oil rating system, where an oil that exceeds a previous standard is, by VWs books, perfectly fine for your car too. So a 5w30 that is 507.00 is fine for the VR6 because that needs 505.01 (the 10w40 spec) and 507.00 exceeds the 505.01 standard, yet we all know 5w30 is crap for this engine.

    OK so we all know how good the VR6 sounds, both 12v and 24v, and how nice inline 5s, straight 6s, V6s, V8s, V10s, V12s can sound. But these are all multi cylinder engines. So whats the best sounding engine with less cylinders youve ever come across?     ive been with rescuemycar for 3 years £26 every year and probably 3 or 4 recoverys a year in this time

    try purging the abs pump through vagcom, mine did that when i swapped to braided lines, i found it says to purge the abs pump every time the system seal is compromised, ie you disconnected a hose. I purged mine a few times but it didnt have an immediate effect, the pedal came back after about 20 or so miles, at no point were the brakes down on power, just on pedal feel

    what is the part no of your new expansion tank, its not the actual VR6 one is it? been looking for a newer style like that for mine

    yea in us they have the mk4 12v same layout as mk3, ive read this on vortex about them using the mk4 gasket in mk3 12v giving 0.5 increase to 10.5:1 supposedly gives 5bhp, id do it if my engine was coming apart anyway but dont know if id do it just to do it. search vwvortex for "mk4 headgasket on mk3" and any derivatives of this search theres lots of reading about it.

    another for synta silver 10w40 and NGK plugs. You may want to adjust the viscosity due to your location, depending if you experience very hot temps And the cheap sinlge electrode BKR*E not the expensive platinum dual ones, (put the relevant heat range you prefer in place of the *, i used 5 which is standard but some on here like the cooler 6 or 7 heat) changed every 20k instead of every 40k

    its 6 and 2 3s, vpower gives slightly more miles to a tank and the car runs nicer but unleaded is about £5 a tank cheaper
