So after having a well bad illness, or several at a time and being so ill that doctors actually put me in hospital to test me for ebola or whatever, and trying to recover for about 5 weeks now, ive finally started to feel well enough to drive comfortably again and took my car for a drive today. It was a good feeling to drive the VR6 again, i was smiling all the way, with that nice aaaaahhhh feeling. Now its parked up again i just want to go for a pointless night drive, just to drive, cant though ive gotta wait till tomorrow.

Gen leads all the way. mister solutions was the cheapest i could find ngk plugs http://www.mister-solutions.co.uk/ngk-spark-plugs--plug-caps-1-c.asp BKR5EU is the vw recommendation for the VR6 01/92 –> 06/95 BKR5EUP is the vw recommendation for the VR6 07/95 –> They are platinum core which makes them quite expensive but should last twice as long. if you want to use cheaper plugs and just replace them in 20k instead of 40k (as per vw specs, which i think is over long anyway) you can use the plain BKR*E series. They come in various heat ranges, 5 being the standard for this engine, but
  12. jetex are quite quiet but give nice sound, and supposedly the most benefit. i have a scorpion catback with straight centre, big midbox and small backbox on mine which sounds quite velvety and gives a good vr6 RRRRRRRRRR sound when you put the hammer down
  13. red genuine leads are what id get again gen ones are the only ones that have the vw logo and part number on them the wierd gap setting is only for multi ground point plugs, i did find a guide by ngk themselves but cant find it now

  16. gapping is hard if you are using the proper 2 electrode plugs, i went through that when you helped me sorting new plugs nat, only easy to gap single electrode plugs, if you even have a go you need round feelers not blades and have to gap from the insulator not the tip, which makes the electrode gap actually about 2.4mm not 0.8mm, very confusing. Which is prob why they tell you not to try and gap multi electrode plugs. you should reset the trims by leaving the battery off then letting it idle for 5 mins when you restart so it gets its baseline back. if you have access to vagcom clearing fault c

  18. just for reference when i had a bad maf mine stuttered on gentle throttle and was fine on full throttle with and without maf plugged in and ran the same plugged or unplugged, idle was worse without the maf though. It also used more fuel with the bad maf, I knew maf was the problem as vagcom told me this, only when i plugged in a brand new maf was it obvious how it wasnt running optimally
