  1. tps do them as an exchange unit for a proper vw one, cost me £60 instead of £160 on exchange unplugging the maf you wouldnt get nice and smooth running it would either be the same or get worse, if its the same the maf is faulty, if it gets worse its a good indicator the maf is working at least some, if not at 100%
  2. i was reading page one and thought they are GTE vents but someones put them in backwards, then read the rest and found out they are lol easy enough to fit, drill holes in each corner and connected them up with an air saw, fit and finish just depend on the skill and patience of the man doing the job
  3. yea mines quite supportive of my need to protect my car too and doesnt get too annoyed if i spend all weekend outside detailing the VR. She did say i was pretty sad though when i started painting up various caps and the engine cover this weekend, also commented she knew "youll be posting that up on your little vr6 site when your finished too wont you" so on principle im not gonna, in her face ha
  4. i got a man that was a works rally suspension mechanic and now has his own garage in thirsk to do mine too, the results were phenomenal, like hed fastened the car down to the road. hope you get just as good results. pretty sure the steering is subframe mounted so moving the engine would have no effect on this
  5. thats actually an alright looking astra. seems nobody's safe, where i live theres lots of monied nobheads, i saw a maserati gran turismo with a huge parking scar down its side yesterday. Right where i usually park my car in town, i started parking my car there due to the high net worth of cars in this area, my thinking that they wouldnt want to get their bentley, AMG or ferrari messed up
  6. sweet, bentley manual said it fused those things, hey least its fixed anyway mate
  7. theres camber adjustement on the 2 bottom bolts, you adjust it then tighten them up
  8. lol i will defend my car very aggressively if i have to, i remember last december when it was snowy and before id done any work to my car yet, some little arseholes threw snowballs at my car in traffic, my gf was in the car with me and before i knew i had done it i jumped out the car and was giving the little feckers a right dressing down, then when theyd all dispersed a round of applause thumbs up and tooting off everyone in the traffic queue lol
  9. love both this and american dad i have most if not all the season boxsets of both, one of my fave family guy episodes is when brian owes stuie money and he gets all mobster on him but i really do love every episode, i wouldnt skip any episode that was on, they are all original. i also watched the first season of the cleveland show, while not as good as family guy and american dad it still was good with some seriously funny parts
  10. fuse number 21 and 15A rating, but it fuses the interior lights, dash clocks, boot light and central locking so if all others are working the fuse is not going to be the problem
  11. could you get some detailed pics of your CS plinth and the lock barrel setup? can you still open the boot by pushing the lock barrel in like the stock setup?
  12. i have a friend who is an insurance assesor, they will only pay up a certain percentage of an older cars value, that they have pre determined in whatever system they use, in fixing it, anything more and they class it as beyond economic repair and wont pay any more, youre right that its not your only option, but once theyve given you a figure they arent gonna increase it just cos it means more to you than its actual monetary value, to them its numbers. Sorry to be blunt but best off to know what you are probably going to face from them. Especially with the stupid amounts insurance repairers cha
  13. technically a properly tuned car should pass on emissions even without a cat
  14. Senders can start to leak but like i say are cheap and easy enough to replace, the new one should last the 13+ years the original did. Other obvious leak locations are the filter housing cap and the oil cooler can start to weep a bit, its got 2 seals front and back so is only something to tackle if youve drained the oil first, just did this on mine and is a PITA as theres not much room to maneuver, but can be as simple as torquing up the cap again unless its leaking cos it warped. If you check this the cap has the torque spec written on it, 30Nm iirc. dont overtighten these as they smash and a
  15. from the front as you are looking the one on the right is low pressure switch sender. They arent expensive just a few quid its easy to just get a new one if its causing problems
  16. This is how i did mine, and if i ever require more gauges ill simply extend either down or across. I did it this way as it almost looks like it was put there by the factory. I got the inspiration from the corrado and old audi coupe gauges. Obviously its a little bit more work than just putting a panel somewhere, not much and not difficult though.
  17. speaks volumes for this country's police farce the a was intentional lol
  18. yea thats my view on double spacing, someones just gonna be an arse on purpose cos you did it. i can say it annoys the shit outta me when Q7s and the like do it.
