  4. when i had a focus ST i used to frequent the STOC, a guy had his ST LPG converted and it burned his engine up in very few miles. That said a few others had and had no problems, i think the jobs only as good as the guy doing it
  5. i did the grommet under the expansion tank too, stuck a barbeque skewer through it, obviously being careful to avoid wires, then duck taped the end of the amp cable to the spike and pulled the spike back through. I didnt need to tape it or anything after as the skewer made a tiny hole which the big amp cable stretched out making a good seal

  9. if you arent fussed about fixing it properly and just want the light out you can easily take the front off the airbag light cover, its a small capless bulb, just bend the contacts to 90 degrees and wrap the bulb in black electrical tape and it wont shine through the translucent area that lights up any more. That way you still retain the ABS warning light, which is always a good idea as ABS faults you really do want to know about and get fixed properly.
  10. dont forget that big engined small cars are highly susceptible to heat soak, ie massive engine creates massive amounts of heat in a small area. All of them kick out a fair bit of heat, the ankle warming is a standard fit no cost option not available on lower spec models :-)

  12. I was going down the road the other day to pick up the little girl from school, going at about 50, national limit road, and this stupid bint in a volvo v50 edgeing out. Ive already clocked her so ive already looked behind me and im ready to stand on the anchors, she waits for me to be like 20 yards away and decides to pull out, obviously there was nowhere near enough room for her to get out, so she then does the most stupid thing she could and while shes right across both lanes just stops dead, i duly slam on my anchors and she gets the full treatment, horn arms angry face shouting everything.

  14. if you google r32 crank in a 12v the first result gives you some good info and also a link to a very old vortex topic regarding this, the pics still work too, which shows you the overlap stock pistons have out the top of the block

  16. yea my brother had a 9n GTI with the 20VT, when you said new one thought you meant the 1.4 TSI. His polo was brilliant i would love a 20VT but prob an 01 Xreg S3. hens teeth!!

  19. as kevhaywire said with regards to the gearbox, the shift tower on the 02A box cant be rushed through with a fast shift like on say focus ST which i know has super quick and short shifting and you can just slam it in I have seen the info on modifying the shifter with 02J in the past but it seemed like a lot of work and didnt look cheap or quick to implement. But the info i read was to do with the mk4 box which has different cables etc people were saying they had to install the whole mk4 gear linkages or if not there was a fair bit of modification required, is the new polo GTI different?
  20. they are a bit split personality, they can be very lazy and you can leave it in 5th most of the time and just cruise about then at high revs they can become quite urgent, the gearbox cant be rushed though, you have to be quite positive with shifts
  21. also was your coolant pink before? if you mix blue and pink (which you shouldnt do) you end up with brown too
  22. basic maf problem diagnosis - unplug the maf and drive it around for a while and see if driveability gets noticeably worse, if it does then your maf is working fine

    its testament to the mechanical quality of these cars, i should think most that fail mot do so on corrosion rather than mechanics
  25. starts at about 50 seconds in speaking of driver, i loved that game, i wish theyd make a good sequel for the PS3. driver 1 and 2 were awesome
