  1. since you put the 288 calipers on have you had the car on vagcom to purge the abs? every time ive opened up the system ive had to purge the abs pump then bleed all round again to get the power back into them, they felt like a plank of wood. Now they feel like they could pull the car on its nose its certainly not lacking in braking force. The rear compensating valve would make the rears brake harder the further down the back went, to compensate for more weight, it would only affect the rears though, usually it would make the rears brake harder so youd have a back end overtaking the front, the f
  2. I am of the same view as you, VW engines are run in by the thick end of 100k. Just what a mate told me who rips his engines to bits and rebuilds just cos hes bored on a sunday. The Schricks move the peak torque from around 4200rpm to about 3600rpm while increasing quite a lot it at the same time, but max power is still made at like 5500rpm just more of that aswell. Its like a best of both worlds miracle mod, more torque and lower down so more accessible with increased power at the same rpm. You know what carol shelby says, power wins arguments but torque wins races
  3. There it looks like a mk3 front with a mk1 rear with those stupidly pulled arches :S
  4. i havent been able to even obtain use of a test kit, no one uses them or if they do they arent letting me use it. VW actually made a retro fit valve for the VR6 fuel pump as it was so common for this scenario to happen it was cheaper to fit this part than replace the fuel pump, ive ordered it but they dont have any in UK and they wont know if germany have any for a couple of weeks, as it was only £12 im looking at this first, so im just waiting at the moment
  5. do you just fill it to max and youve had no probs, the AAA engine one is bigger isnt it?
  6. i dunno mate just trying to help if i can point you in the right direction, i googled and that link above is for a climatronic conversion forums, i was quite surprised to find a forum dedicated to conveeting your vw to climatronic, the internet has everything
  7. might want to register up on here http://www.tinsmithtech.com/cgi-bin/climatronic/YaBB.pl
  8. i read about someone who climatronic'd a mk1, he seems to not stress enough it was a major effort and he didnt even integrate a/c, just the controls for climatronic this is cut from his topic on clubgti the list is endless and a major ball ache, but i'll try and cover all the parts you will need from a car with climatronic Complete wiring behind dash, inc heater box with servos & motors etc: ie. Temprature flap postioning sensor Airflow control motor Air flow sensor Cental Flap motor Central vent motor vent motor setter sunlight sensor intake duct sensor ambient temp sensor dash panel temp
  9. arent there any header tanks off newer cars that will fit in the same place? ive been trying to find one, reason being the newer style tanks are much more transparent and have the better caps on them
  10. id prob have got the toad myself but was in a rush as the laser alarm my car came with unlocked itself and went off and allsorts and as id just bought the car didnt have the funds for toad, i got a clifford hornet maxx2 which to be fair is a very good alarm and can distinguish very well between an unnecesary disturbance and an actual threat, the only bad thing i can say actually is the arm/disarm is very loud and annoys the hell outta me
  11. doesnt your engine getting more powerful and free-er at high mileage means that its near wearing out? Dont know why you say you wouldnt be insterested in schrick as the easiest most cost effective way to get a power increase with NA is schrick VGI, schrick 268 cams and remap, filter and exhaust etc compliment this but those 3 are where your easy increases are. BMC CDA is the daddy of CAIs and they pop up all the time on ebay, i got mine for 50 quid I have read that SS manifold is only really for sound on NA as they only come into benefit with a supercharger, however true that may be. General c
  12. i doesnt do anything for the golf thats for sure, i think that most cars that come with them it looks wrong without them in fact paul youre right, its mostly jap cars that dont come with them, even they are now too
  13. BMC CDA are universal, meaning you need to get a section of silicone suitable for your car, providing you have bought the right size for the VR6 (CDA85-150) you need to get a section of 85mm silicone hose
  14. you can get a toad ai606 for less than £100 and its as good as any
  15. got a current pic of my bengal when he turned up And he was in a mischievious mood this morning antagonising baron bailey and got his head kicked in. This is where he hid himself lol
  16. added the red to the lights?
  17. statistically, six out of seven dwarves arent happy
  18. Ive only ever put Vpower in my big engined cars so wont be changing just because they say youll get a few more miles, only fill up once every 2 weeks or so anyway
  19. id do both its only under the right hand side plastic cover, comes off with 2 6mm allen screws
  20. lol cats is the best all cats are funny maybe except devil cat i love this one
  21. a pre 2001 S3 is a car im on the lookout for as an additional car. Im waiting for the ideal one to come along though as ideally i want a facelift but pre march 2001 so its a bit lower tax. As the facelifts have variable valve timing, though they are still 210 they are exactly the same engine as the 225 which means the same remap/tuning potential, which is AMK engine code, In fact the BAM engine only had 15bhp more due to a flashed ECU
  22. Ive bought an inline one way valve for the sake of a fiver to see if it sorts it.
  23. assuming you are using 205/50/15 tyres and that your ratios are as follows, from google standard vr6 ratios 1st - 3.62:1 2nd - 2.07:1 3rd - 1.47:1 4th - 1.04:1 5th - 0.84:1 Final - 3.39:1 but with G60 final - 3.684:1 I work out that at 80mph your engine speed will be about 3600rpm see attached pdf for graph gearspeeds.pdf
  24. could it perhaps be the same plugs in this topic? http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?383270
