  1. is the round cap on your scuttle a top mount cover? If so have you got a better pic of it on and where/how much? my last suspension was rusted up on the top and ive been after some covers to stop water collecting on the new ones
  2. the basic wietec coilovers arent threaded bodies on the back they are a cup with slots on the body, the aps are all threaded, that decided it for me
  3. they do sit proud a bit, if you turn the wheels they will rise and fall
  4. doesnt make a difference really its all just boiled water. Id recommend flushing the system thoroughly with a running hose and maybe go round the block a few times with just water when the systems up to temp and the top rad pipe gets hot running through it too, some right sh!te came out of mine when i did. I think ill do it again with a proper flusher that will get rid of all the sediment, but have to wait till summer to guarantee it doesnt freeze up as you have to run round with mostly water and the flusher stuff for a few days
  5. G12 plus plus is the standard now from VW. 2 bottles and fill the rest up with water, preferably de ionised (ie boiled) water although you can get battery water from halfords for about a quid
  6. I went over my rear ones with a buffer and took them back to gloss black, proper murdered
  7. front end pressure will be high cos of the weight of the engine
  8. mine acts like an on/off switch too, 1 push wont just do one pass i have to push for it to be on and then push for it to go off
  9. the dead zone for the wiper stalk is controled by a sprung screw, this could have come loose and its letting the stalk make contact with the rear wiper switch, have you tried holding the stalk forward a little bit, start up and see if it comes on? if it doesnt then you just need to adjust this screw.

    Exhaust??

Magnaflow are available as pre made fit yourself and actually look and sound pretty good to me anyway. Not too pricey either £340 for a cat-back. They are definitely a contender for the replacement on my car.
  13. thats the one i got too, with the matching VDO sender. Thats quite important, to get a matched sender to your gauge. Im not sure if it goes as far as getting the same make as your gauge but it needs to be the same range
  14. I got a VDO gague and a VDO oil pressure sender. You need a 10BAR gague and sender. You want to get a twin pole sender so you can keep the factory low pressure light. The lowest warning you can get is 0.5BAR but thats fine as hot idle is more than twice that and i think the factory low warning of 0.25 is too low for comfort anyway. Its far simpler and tidier to get an electric gague, you only need 3 wires to run them, +, - and sender feed. there are millions of pods etc out there, I customised the centre console to hold mine.
  15. yea that would be ignition switch to turn on ignition live, you have done it the only way you can without swapping the switch out
  16. Coilovers, dont know the drop but set so that the wheels are basically in line with the arches. 17x7.5J ET35 wheels 205/40/17 tyres No arch work No issues
  17. The inner clearance would be fine, if anywhere is going to its the outer clearance that would probably foul. From my own experience I have ET35 7.5" wheels with 205/40/17 and they fit under fine with no issue. They scrubbed once and that was with 200kg in the back. compared to my size, ET30 8" wheels would only be 1mm closer to the strut but stick 11mm further out on the arch side
  18. T1R is the high performance tyre and CF1 is the family hatchback/rep saloon tyre T1R for me all the way, having said that ive got Yoko Parada Spec 2 and they are pretty good
  19. i have just done this and the window removal men said you cant get a seal seperate from the window, all parts suppliers said the same thing too. If you check my surgery thread in projects you can see that i only had a little showing but a few big spots were fully hidden under the window and seal
  20. yea £24+vat i think, if you only want the strips, the front end caps are seperate so if they are fine rip the current ones off from the back, the backs are part of the strip, and slide them back to disengage the strip from the front end cap, its slid on the strip with guides and held in place in the front arch with a rivet
  21. About those badges, I hunted high and low, phoned pretty much every VW parts and their suppliers looking for new badges for mine, nothing, nada. might save you some time before you start trying to find some. Unless you want to pay some greek bugger £100 a badge!
  22. HIDs definitely, far far brighter and they should never need to be changed. If you dont want to do that OSRAM night breakers
