  1. Could be from running into the red and the pump, the petrol kind of acts like lubrication and coolant for it, but if you say you can't hear any whining then maybe not, as an aside for comparison mine makes a high pitched whirring whether empty or brimmed and never had any issue with it.
  2. Cheers mate I'm super glad its now right, I didn't want it hanging over me after surgery and not being able to fix it.
  3. Got the splash shield on and went for a test drive and I'm relieved to say its perfect now I had a close look at the old flywheel and got a straight edge on it, its no longer flat at all its dished, I looked at the new Valeo friction disc and it only contacted about 2cms of the edge with the original flywheel, so I'm pretty glad I did get a new flywheel on aswell.
  4. The new flywheel has done the trick, no more shuddering along The stupid mounting posts for the splash shield and undertray had all snapped off when I undid the nuts to take everything off, so I ground them flat and drilled and tapped some holes and blathered them in underseal for protection, they can be bolted on much more securely now. Driver side Gearbox side
  5. Haha worst thing I've done was when I was changing the bushes on the wishbones, I'd exhausted many possibilities of getting them out and lost my patience. So I got the jigsaw out, then it jumped off the wishbone and landed in the back of my hand with my finger still on the trigger so it got driven into it too. The couple of seconds before it started bleeding quite a lot I checked to see my fingers still worked and could see the tendon moving back and forward. It looked like chicken and was gross.
  6. The man walking his dog across the road certainly gave me a funny look when I was shouting and chucking stuff lol
  7. Got the gearbox on, twice, the lever arm didn't go into place right and wouldn't travel forward first time so had to crack it off again, which wasted about an hour so haven't driven it yet, but I did start it up and raise the revs with the axles still disconnected and the signs look / feel good.
  8. The tank and filler neck is moulded plastic one piece on golf, corrado probably is too.
  9. With this revelation I could have just turned the pressure plate round but the flywheel was special order anyway so you don't get a refund so put it on anyway haha
  10. It could be from the battery being disconnected simple as that, I get a code every time I disconnect the battery, clear it and then check again after about 20 mins of drive time.
  11. I think its about £87 on an exchange basis or about £150 outright from TPS, I'll find out when I take my old one in. I didn't even ask my dealer. I thought this was a pretty good price for a genuine one but they are only solid so not complex to make. If not I was going to go for a sachs one for only £55 shipped but had to get it from USA.
  12. G13 just supersedes G12plusplus. When I change I get 3 bottles of that and a bottle or 2 of halfords battery top up water. Ideal concentration is about 45% so 3 bottles of G13 makes 45%.
  13. Giving up for today, I hired a hoist for the weekend to make getting the gearbox on/off easier as the fronts on this time, it helped a lot don't think I could have done it without it, but i smashed my head on it and have a bad head now lol +o(
  14. Got the brand new genuine flywheel on hopefully will solve the vibration.
  15. Got the new flywheel on, the pressure plate would only go on one way on this new one, on the old one the dowels would move so it would go on in all 3 positions, so fingers crossed this will solve it, makes sense that if its only supposed to go on one way it may be weighted. I'll find out tomorrow I spose.
  16. It will have come from the cam cover gasket
  17. At 1.3 when still and clutch down so the clutch disc isn't even contacting, the whole car shakes enough that you can feel it, then after it gets much less but you can still feel it isn't right and shaking. If engaging the clutch the shuddering is way bad, the whole car shakes. Then if going along a smooth road I can hear the vibration rattling something in the dash. The faster rpms the faster the rattle. I tested this down a long hill too, if going down the hill in gear, say 3rd at 30mph the rattling can be heard, if I then turn the engine off it will silently coast down the hill, turn back on
  18. Just my thoughts, but for the price I would get a bottle of Redline SI-1 and send my injectors to mr injector for the same money.
  19. I actually noticed that the vibration doesn't go at higher revs, the vibration just gets kind of so fast that you didn't notice it as much, that's why I've stopped driving it, like just over 1.3krpm was like the resonant frequency so it was worst at that point.
  20. I don't think the mk3 has deadlocks, but the pump seems to have the ability to somehow keep the locks forced shut, try disconnecting the vacuum hose from the pump and see if it relieves the pressure and the lock pins may be operable again. If the door keyhole doesn't operate the lock it may be that the spade is broken so not turning the lock, just the barrel. So another thing you could look at.
  21. Just my luck its on back order 5-7 days. Just hope this is the issue, and also that driving it 40 or 50 miles hasn't damage anything, I'm imagining the wobble could have damaged the crank or bearings, feeling paranoid! I'm not driving it until its sorted now.
  22. If you think it's a lifter you can free it up by placing something softer like wood on it then hit it with a hammer.
