  1. Picked up the required bolt and nuts this morning and the new matrix is now in place and coolant topped back up with fresh, car run up to open the thermostat and the fans kick in, no leaks, no coolant smell (after it had burned off all of the engine etc, it smelt sickly as hell). I took the opportunity to tidy the cabling up, I've re organised it to all run below the dash, not fastened to it like it was to minimise rattles and re foamed and zip tied up anything that needed it, all the heater box foams disintegrated when it came to pieces.
  2. If youre on about an S4, 3.0TDI A4 Sline, remap if you really want. 3.0 TDI A4s and 330d BMWs are the fastest cars on the motorway and still do the economy.
  3. I did note there's 2 plastic 10mm nuts that I can't remember a all where they are from, they aren't for the white vent shroud cos I've put them back.
  4. For that sort of budget i will highly recommend AP
  5. For correction I have a porter cable 7424 ( bought back before there were RO's designed for the UK, its awesome though) use lake country pads and menzerna intensive and final finish polishes. For regular washing I use dodo juice born to be mild using the 2 bucket method and a lambswool mitt for paint and a microfibre mitt for wheels. For paint protection I use dodo juice blue velvet and/or chemical guys jetseal. For wheel protection i use chemical guys wheel guard. The skirts get Mer bumper gel to keep looking slick, black and glossy.
  6. Is that an RS3 then and not a TTRS? TTRS not very practical, bit hairdressery
  7. Ive got the double ended screw ordered and 3 of the rubber sealed captive nuts for all 3. Finally got the bugger out!! And as you can see it was also leaking I cant really do a lot more with it now apart from try and reassemble the heater box, as I need to put this little screw in that Ill get from VW tomorrow. Im going to try and tidy up, re foam and secure the wiring looms and also foam pack the dash and vent channels and the foams on the vent covers that has degraded and fallen to bits. I want no creaks or rattles!!
  8. hehe yea ive tried to be organised and have the bits in pots for each section, having trouble with the firewall bolt next to the abs unit, its spinning and rusted up tight, ill give it a soak in WD40 and hold the thread in vice grips but if all fails I'm gonna have to try and dremel the nut off, atm im trying to see if you can get replacement nuts and bolts for this position. Just found out you can so im just gonna dremel it off, it clearly isnt salvageable anyway.
  9. Progress report in tea break, my hands are shredded and the car looks like this, just perusing the DIY on how to get the heater box out now.
  10. I've soldered 2 super white LEDs to the light tracks for the normal bulbs on the top of the dial casing and removed the green film. I'll probably try and bend the bulbs towards the centres more, they are pointing at like 5 and 7 o'clock at the moment.
  11. I've decided I like white dial illumination better than green
  12. My gf and I have this conversation probably on a monthly basis, and depending on what has happened in the motoring world, the answer may change or stay the same. Anyone can say oh yea I'd get a lambo, 1. its not original :-p and 2. really not a real world solution. I'm talking about cars that will hold the weekly trip to town and sainsburys, so a nice big boot, one that wont feel like you've had a kicking when you get out of it, can actually be entered and exited with simplicity, and can do width restrictors and speed bumps. Supercars are banned from choice. Mine would definitely be the Merce
  13. Made a start tonight on the inside, I think I've got it pretty much stripped bare now, just gotta make the push tomorrow hopefully and get the thing out. Got the new genuine part waiting to go back in and an undetermined amount of coolant to top up with. God I tell you the cost of this little bastard is making me fume!! Seems we're on G13 now, easier to ask for than G12plusplus. And apparently this is German for fuel filter.
  14. Just renewed my membership so I can get the guide to taking the dash out.
  15. That's what I thought, but no that seems the going rate now, as is the cost of a simple brake fluid change, £25 last time I checked in November, now cheapest is £40, but cant do brake fluid by myself and as brakes are a little bit important I will bite the bullet. Its a genuine part, I know you can get a budget part but I thought about the £20sum item and thought I'm not prepared to take the interior out more than once and hopefully the new item will last as long as the original part.
  16. Pretty annoyed tonight, noticed a little bit of coolant loss so hunted around for pink powder and found some on a heater matrix pipe, I just touched it and boom the take-off snaps completely off. I hadn't gone far but the after run pump was on and the system was pressurised, so it spat hot-ish coolant all over me and about 15 foot down the drive. Here is the plastic pipe, still in the hose There was lots more pink residue but it must have washed off in the explosion Heater matrix ordered from TPS at a cost of £140 Not to mention the many hour dash out job I now have to do
  17. After the system has been bled and is good, a regular fluid change by pushing old out with new shouldn't give the same issue as the problems you get when you have disrupted the seal of the system with changing lines etc.
  18. I know its no way comparative as it was relatively new back then but I looked at getting a focus ST manifold done in 08 and it was like £700, I did not go ahead.
  19. Speak of the devil, haven't seen a coupe turbo for probably 9 years and just saw a red one on the way to the supermarket, and a white mk2 jetta aswell, which I don't think I've ever seen one before
  20. The three bolts on the block hold it on, but I'd be careful it will probably snap back like a bitch when you undo them, no idea how you're gonna get it and the belt back on though with no un- tensioner
  21. Quite a few people in my town have corrados, all are VR except for a red one which is a G60, and I saw another new burgundy VR corrado yesterday. Cosworths of any kind are rare as now, 205s you don't see any of them, Saabs in general But there are some cars here that people are still using daily. Operations

I've had an operation on my right wrist (dominant hand) about 4 years ago and now at 28 am having a scan on Wednesday to see the extent and rate that a carpal bone in my wrist is dying, this will determine which operation I will need now.
  23. I don't even understand that
  24. Ha forgot to put the damn link in
  25. Based on this from 1955 Bespoke car builder Gullwing America have sliced and diced a brand new SLS AMG Roadster into this, for an undisclosed sum for an undisclosed buyer, (read, extremely expensive!) Personally I like it and the whole gangster style, though it does have quite a powerful whiff of morgan aero about it. But being mechanically a 2013 SLS its going to be brutal to drive. The company also makes custom brand new from the ground up modern interpretations of the 300 SL, which I also like very much
