Poor brakes, pedal to floor
S/Cmk2 replied to MarkGolf's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
does it feel soft all the time when turned on or just after getting hot? -
i used himiniracing for my gt3071 and wastegate, oil fittings and lines ect, schimmel performance for cams, arp hardware, clutch flywheel and lsd, both comoanies very good, best prices still seem to be in the US but be prepared for a wait, stressful bank wire transfers and big customs bills when the pacels arrive, however its well worth it and had no problem with the above companys. I see there are a couple of UK companies offering packages which may be worth a look depending if your planning to do the work yourself or not... Regards, Luke

interesting to see the orginal intake used, cant have been too easy making it all fit! Great job though guys and great price, just wish i had seen it before spending about as much just on parts.

sounds logical Ben that going down to a smaller pulley with less teeth would increase psi although there is no information anywhere i can find to that confirms this or anywhere that sells such a pulley.

My charger has a toothed pulley so im guessin its a later model.. i will definately be speaking to the above mentioned companies s hear their point of view. i have been looking into rotrex chargers today and can't find much either new or secondhand. I have breifly looked into turbo options but would rather stay supercharged as im unsure whether i would get good power without spending a lot of money forging internals to run biggish turbos at high boost. Have seen a complete turbo setup on ebay for £800..can't be great. Thanks for all the info so far guys, hop the info shared will help a few pe

Thanks for the reply Ben, its interesting you say about the zr1 and zr2 differences, im not entirely sure which one i have but will try and find out tomorrow. Stupid question but is it identified anywhere on the charger? If it is going to be tricky to up the psi i may have to look into another charger. Its also interesting you say about running it without a cooler and my engine temps are very low with the intake simply dropped down beside the charger through the foglight hole. Has anyone gone down the route of a short intake with the cooler to make it more efficient? I may well go with you Ben

Thanks very much both of you for the replys, i understand Ben has the same charger but not sure what psi hes running. Jake thats a good point about traction and i have been looking heavily into the quiffe lsd. this will be next on the list after the engine mods or at the same time depending on funds. traction is not too bad to be honest howvere tyres are not lasting long at all. MRC tuning have mapped the car previously and they willl be doing it again if i stay with the standard ecu. This is a bit of a grey area as some people like aftermarket stuff and some people say to stay with what ive g

Good evening guys and happy new year. I currently have a mk2 golf with a full vr6 engine with a zengineering S/C running approx 6 psi. i have had this setup for around 8 months now with no problem but can't help about thinking of more power. Ideally i want to stick with the same charger as this will be the easiest and increasng psi to around 10psi. I Know a few people run this setup a just want some opinions and advice on setups. i realise i need to lower the compression with a spacer plate or low comp pistons ect and i have a 6 branch manifold and 263 cams ready to go on aswell. im looking in

no i didnt do the pictures myself a lad spent ages on them especially the one with the see-through bonnet! I think a reliable 300bhp setup is what im after but need to sort out a lsd and things first.

great progress mate, brings back memories! how many miles has the engine done?
-
My mk2 is down around that much and its a nightmare, sump is only around 5cm off the ground and bumper catches on every bump in the road! Don't do it! But it does look smart.
-
mk2 shell with vr6 engine and charger is the way to go! will be more power, better noise! I would do that! But if youv got the above setup coming cheap be good to see something slightly different!

thanks for the comments guys, yea the colour seems to be pretty rare but i think theres an admin on here with a really nice one the same colour? As for the mk4 i can't remeber what turbo its running now but will find out for you! Its pretty mental.

Thanks for the replies so far guys, the maf is located before the charger in housing just after the air filter. I reckon it was 'ripped off' as i came out of a junction that was on a down slope as it is ridiculously low to the ground. how shall i clean the MAF and how much are new ones? thanks in advance, Luke.
