cheers guys ive had the imobiliser removed from the ecu by c2 motor sport. also have had the after market alarm and imobliser removed and a new one fitted no difference. also replaced the ignition switch today -
my car had had issuses for a while! ive posted before but and followed advice given but still not working. the car is a 1990 mk2 with a ce2 loom, the engine is a 2.8 obd1 with coil pack. the problem is the car randomly cuts out it doesnt hesitate ot go lumpy it just cuts out followed by the control unit clicking. (changed this twice) then when i try to start it again it will run for a few seconds then stop, ive had the a lead off and you can see the spark stop after a few seconds. so far i have changed the coil pack, leads, plugs, crank sensor, ignition switch. checked all the wiring from the

been tolf it could be my ignition switch breaking down it there a way to check this?
-
not to sure seems to be pretty random think it must be eletrical might take the dash out and give the wires behind a good sorting out
-
just put the cap back on and ran for another 10 didnt cut out atall. this is anyoying.
-
was running fine for 15 mins and besides dipping in revs when the fans cam on nothing just put the cap on to see what happens now

well the thing is i didnt have a donner car and its caused me no end of problems i brouht "everything you need to conver your mk2 8v to a vr6" from some one off ebay they were also on a few forums so thought it would be cosha turns out loads of bits were missing and the loom was a right state. i managed to repair the loom all tested and good but it didnt have the port on it.
-
strange car wouldnt start. the relay that came with the mk3 loom started going mental clicking like mad took it out and swapped it with another one with 53 on it same thing. after a few mins started and is running fine. fuel filler is off now.
-
cool will try that right now
-
it probably takes a good five mins but can be totaly random. how would i tell if its starved of fuel? and where is the fuel breather to check? cheers
-
only problem is ive not got diagnostics port. anyone have a guild to fitting one to a mk2? ive tried the mk2vr6 forum but noone seems to have one.

After some help yet again. Just put my engine back in after finaly fixing the oild leak (don't buy after market main crank oil seals). Tidyed up the engine loom even have the rev counter working now, which is nice . However the probelm is the car randomly just stops from time to time, makes no odds if its cold or warm, dosnt seem to get lumpy, just cuts out. it starts again no problem. also happens when im driving it will just judder as if the car has lost all power and bump starts it self. makes no difference if its bummpy road, under load or just cruising happpens is any gear. its a mk2

just been playing around. have found 2 of the ht leads detached at the ends going to order some more see what that does. also a vacume leak the one that goes into the cockpit of the car think its for the mfa? ive disconnected that and bunged the pipe runs better less hunting. also there is still a clicking from the realy that came with then mk3 loom. i slaved in a new isv and blew through it steadily and you can feel it clicking and trying to shut could this be a stray signal from one of the ht leads? anyone have any ideas?

ive just had the head off to try and fix the oil leak. it seems to be coming from where the head gasket goes through the timing chain covers. head is back on but oil leak is still there am i going to have to take it off again? the top cover is well sealed im 100% its not coming from there. also the cars not been running right i've changed the maf the isv and the throttle position sensor. its running better not spluttering and doesnt smell like its running as ritch, but its still hunting and wont idle. its an obd2 ive checked the leads and plugs and that i have them routed correctly. any ideas?
-
still not running right when i unplug the throttle position sensor the car runs a little better, still not perfect though. I've been trying to get a new one with the same part number from vw they are over 60 quid. And if its not this would be gutted. Does anyone know if i can use one with a different part number im guessing the difference is obd1 and obd2. first picture is of the original one. part number 037 907 385 Q the different one i have purchased. part number 021 907 385 B also as the car is about to stall it makes a relay click under the dash it hangs down on its own not on the fuse

cheers tried the throttle position sensor and it does smooth out. how much was yours is it a vw only thing?
-
still not running.ive taken the MAF off and cleaned it it seems to tick over a little high when it does actually tick over. most of the time it just hunts and farts. you can hear a clicking when it seems to miss so i had a look and its coming from the relay that hangs down by the fuse box with the 53 on it. also noticed some smoke coming from the manifold so had a look and there is oil dripping from the pipe throttle body side of the maf. ive taken it off and its filthy so is the throttle body im guessing thats not right? seems to be a lot of oil. also i have noticed there some sort of valve

i have the audi ones already in my mk2 i can get the oil px sender to fit in the hole though think ill need an adapter. when i put on in my old t25 i had to buy a 4inch pipe has anyone else has this problem?
-
