Having never driven a corrado, if you get an OBD2 vr6 then im guessing its pretty much on par. The corrado probably will have better handing due to the MK2 chassis, but a good coilover set and anti roll bars really can transform the golf. So weigh up the pros and cons. Running costs - probably not much in it. Insurance - Golf group 16 Corrado Group 18. Practicality - if you need it, buy the golf, if you can live without it buy the corrado. Specs - The golf has a better spec especially the OBD2 (96 onwards) Best way to tell an OBD2 is by the coil pack and also the round indicators. And fi

To be honest mate - i brought my golf at a cracking price with very little history. In a year the only thing I have done to it is a full service (leads plugs filters etc) and a heater matrix. The head gasket is leaking so thats next on the agenda. Brought an N reg obd2 with 144k on the clock and its no 153k and its running better after 150k. Previous to this I had a mk3 gti which I brought with 155k on the clock full documented history and got rid of that at 181k because it was giving me grief. Hi folks I have been reading lots of different things on the forum stating that insurance has gone up this year, and members are generally not happy with their quotes. My insurance has expired and I will be renewing it on the 8 December 2005. Im 32 with 3 years NCB. Can any of the members tell me if they have recieved competitive quotes from the affiliated insurers on the forum, if so how much? Thanks in advance. Ranj

Hi Guys I am curious to see what the quarter mile times are for Golf VR6'S with the following mods - Shrick VGI intake with Shirck Cams, induction kit and exhaust or - Exhaust, Chip, Induction Kit and Shrick or Schimmel Cams. Thats a pretty good price. What make are the cams. -
Im sure the cat controls the emissions so if your cat is decated then it may fail on ommisions. My exhaust had a small leak in it and we had to do the emissions test 6 times before I got a positive reading.

Hi Guys Over the last few days I have had a nightmare with my golf. It basically wouldnt start. I tried to push start it and again it was not kicking in at all. So I called the RAC and they came to inspect my car at home. It turns out that the relay to the starter motor from the immobiliser had packed up. I was quoted £200 to remove the existing Toad Alarm and then purchase and fitting of another one(due to insurance). So I was looking at a £600 bill. The RAC man suggested that I contact Goodwins as they have a good reputation. He was able to bypass the immobiliser so I could drive the car

I cant afford to go down the shrick route as yet. I was speaking to Vince and he suggested Shimmel 268 or 263 Cams which according to Vince are near enough to what you can get to VGI performance. So cams coupled with exhaust filter and chip should be able to give you atleast 20 bhp if your VR is healthy. 260 BHP is rather optimistic with an NA engine.

Right folks, did the checks, brake fluid was slightly low, and pads are fine. Now the light keeps coming on and off...

My quote will be interesting this year. I got myself a DD ban in 2005 in December and some companies ask for it to be declared whilst others dont. I was paying £2000 third party for a MK3 16V gti when I came off my ban so I feel you pain mate....

Hi folks, Recently I have noticed that the fans on my VR6 seem to stay on for a good 10 minutes even after a very short 5 minute drive. This has confused me as the temp needle is still on cold. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

152000 and its going to need some money spending on it soon - head gasket on the way out and it runs a little rough. Dont know if chains have been done as yet.
