  1. Cheers pete, am I right in thinking the g60 final drive improves acceleration but loses some top end? If so do you know how much top end by any chance?
  2. hi guys I'm after some help, I just need to confirm exactly what gearbox I need if anybody knows? as I have now heard different opinions to what model gearbox I should fit and I really don't want to buy the wrong one! I have got a corrado 2.9 abv bottom end from a 1994 model to go in my golf vr6 1996 ob2. I've heard it should be a 02a and also a chn, heard something about different ratios and final drives. Could someone please clarify or help in any way?

  4. Great quote lol, personally I would also go for 3 a good middle of the range shoe!
  5. I've got a reconditioned head, skimmed and pressure tested from the original engine which is a 96' so I'll go with that, sounds good fellas.
  6. Ok no prob I'll try find out, cheers tony.
  7. Ok cool so do you know what head needs the cut out 0bd1/2? Just in case I wanna fig one in the future?
  8. Nice one guys, rapid reply! I thought if I was keeping everything obd2 then the head should be obd2 or am I wrong??
  9. Hi guys prob a simple one but I got a golf vr6 on a 1996 plate obd2 With an empty bay but I've got a corrado obd1 2.9 bottom end to go in. Anybody know What code gearbox will I need?
  10. nice motor but a very nice price too! Can't be too many around now.
  11. Luckily for the car I won't be doing most of it, the old man's the mechanic. Just wanted some info to pass over to him make it as easy as possible. Just wanted to be sure before I fork out on synchro gear and realise it don't work then end up on eBay! Cheers guys
  12. L5gvw's threads pretty impressive, made my project seem really easy. I've located a guy with the all the running gear for sale so parts ain't a prob, so what about getting it running on a regular vr6? Your quite a lucky fella owning a factory synchro!
  13. Wow! Great build thread, I'm pretty tired after Reading all 24 pages! Lol Ive got a question and it seems your the man to ask. I've got a mk3 vr6, is it difficult to fit the complete mk3 synchro 4x4 running gear to my vr6? I understand I'm gonna need a synchro boot floor. But apart from that is there much to do? I feel pretty stupid from getting a headache from my project after seeing your build thread!
  14. Was looking at the full 4x4 running gear, I understand I'm gonna need a synchro boot floor to allow for the transfer box. But apart from that is there alot more work involved? And is the work worth the benefit? With the new boot floor is it pretty much a bolt up mod? Cheers
  15. Hi guys as my project is at it's early stages and I'm in need of a gear box was wondering about running synchro gear as it would be easier now. Is any body running the gear in this club? What exactly will I need? And as it's used on left hookers will it cause probs with the exhaust system and other things?
