Hi, i have a mk3 VR6 highline 5dr. I'm tempted to fit a pair of Recaro's in the front as they look and feel so much better. I have 2 questions; 1.Do the Recaro's from a 3 door fit my 5 door? 2.Do Recaro's from a mk4 fit a mk3? Thanks Lads

Hi all, not been on here in a while as the VR6 has been in storage! It has Wietech 40mm lowering kit all round but otherwise standard, is there any way to combat the understeer under throttle? its very bad in the wet! I've tried all different tyres and nothing made much difference! Am i missing out on some settings or tricks etc?

I am under no illusion, time has left the VR6 behind a little, i have had very depressing goes with TDI golfs etc, once with a 535d BMW - that thing made me look silly!! However I still enjoy the car when i use it because of what it was in its day and for being a car, lets face it, you hardly see anymore! Nothing like having something rare, its ok having a civic type R but, come on who hasn't had one - hardly exclusive!! Same as my 5cyl S6's. Just enjoy for being different, they may even be considered a collectors car one day

I have a 1996 highline (oval repeaters) that is in need of a pair of front wings. Does anyone have any rust free front wings from a breaker etc?

i had it code read this morning and there were only two faults, lambda sensor heater circuit failure and over rev (again) so must be the sensor -

the filter is not even 2k miles old, the maf is also the same age, its puzzeling me somewhat, its only dramaticallt affected when its been sitting running for ages, it feels the same as when the cam position sensor failed, but that was replaced then -

No i have a standard airbox with a k&n panel filter and the cone removed, But yeh it is as if that is the problem, but it can;t be with the standard box? -
Hi all, If i have the misfortune of sitting in traffic in my golf for a long period of time the performance seems to drop off and throttle response feels 'lazy' once i get moving again, as if something is being affected by under bonnet tempriture. The car generally feels more livley just befor it is up to temp also any ideas guys?

I had them and i found them ok. GSD3 Eagle f1's are still good for how much they are!

20mm springs
motocrossmad replied to motocrossmad's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Thats whats confusing me so much, i think the air con makes quite a difference. My car on its 40mm springs and shocks measures 31.5cm at the front and 33cm at the back from the centre of the centre cap to the lip of the arch, its just all wrong (however the rear is adjustable by the cir clip). But the front for fast driving is way too low for normal roads! I think, for me, the standard springs which i took off (and were new vw) with the 10mm lowering cups might be my best option?? Where can i get a pair? Am i right in thinking on a 96 car which mine is, you buy and fit the plates from the earl -
Does anyone know of any 20mm lowering springs for a 1996 VR6 Highline? Mine is lowered 40mm with wietec springs and shocks at the moment but with the weight of the a/c the front is too low for my liking and i feel it is upsetting the handeling. I've been looking and i'm sick of reading the same springs listed for 16v and VR6 with a different lowering rate for each car, they are simply relying on the spring sagging more on the VR6 due to the added weight! I want something VR6 specific and not stupid low! Any ideas anyone?????

pulling hard to the left
motocrossmad replied to leespeza's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
i have the same problem with my VR6 and always have had it! I have had it tracked 3 times, wishbone bushes (even tried polybush), ball joints etc and have not managed to cure it! Is it an unreasonable to come to the conclusion that is is the rack?? It seams easier to turn left than right, but was unsure if it was something else i've not checked causing this! If it is the rack, is there a ''quicker'' rack i can fit? -
What difference does it make to the revs in top? at 100mph the standard box is giving about 4000 rmp, whats is it with the g60 diff installed?
-
Not going to go to that level yet as i am 'supporting' two other cars and a bike, but thats very usefull to know about the diff, thanks. What ratio is the VR6 diff and does the G60 one fit in the VR casing??
