Hello All. After 4 years of ownership and minimal progress I'm considering cutting my losses and selling up. Some basic specs: 1994 M 3dr Mystic Blue 2.8 VR6 OBD1 with coilpack (although it has an odb2 port?) 65,401 Miles Cloth Interior The car has been SORN for as long as I've owned it. It has been in storage for most of the last 3 years of ownership. The intention was to restore it, drive it, then eventually go turbo. But times have changed and so have my plans. The body of the car is not in a good state. There's rust in a fair few places and general marks all over. The rear quarter pa

VW Vento VR6 Conversion and Harlequin paint
Sidhu88 replied to VR6BOY's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
liking it, however that blue really needs to be the proper harlequin blue, just doesn't look right to me. -
meh, mine broke in the same place, put crap loads of black silicone sealant on it. did the job, sealed up, and its a bit flexy so it'll take a fair bit to break again. I'd recommend doing it, taping it in place so it doesnt move and then run the engine til its nice n hot in the engine bay so it sets quicker

Seriously.... can kitchen foil reflect engine bay heat soak
Sidhu88 replied to The Monk's topic in Engine Tuning
think about it this way, if u wrap a chicken/turkey in foil and put it in the oven, it wouldn't burn the outer layer of the chicken/turkey? it would heat it up on the inside however but thats due to the high temps in the oven. With that in mind, if u wrap whatever u want to in a couple layers of foil, shiny side outwards it could probably work. and if u did enough layers it would eventually get a bit more rigid. The heat should be reflected away leaving it cool enough on the inside. Try using some cardboard wrapped in foil for more rigidity -
would like to see a vid of u giving it some if uve got one?

there all new cables aside from crossover to speakers because they run through a weird grommet sorta thing and theres no holes in it to run any cables through, i dont wana drill through it cos im unsure of whats on the other side of them. i'll try running fresh cables around the outside instead see if it helps. i do a moderate amount of stereo installs through work, n i've set up a few systems in the past but the colour coding for these wires are stupid. normally u'd have a solid car then one with a break, but not the case in the golf lol. i'm gonna have another crack at it, will report back l

Just tried to wire up my amp for the front door speakers in my Mk3 Golf. Its a component set if it helps. The problem im having is that when i turn the stereo on, the speaker crackles for a couple seconds and then the stereo goes into protect mode. I thought at first it was a grounding problem, but i changed the ground from the first place which was just behind the dash, to the negative on the battery. I thought this would have ruled out the problem but it was still the same. The second issue i thought it may have been is the wiring for the speakers themselves. I used the original wiring from

non milltek decat wont fit with milltek exhaust?
Sidhu88 replied to Sidhu88's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
cheers fellas, was pretty sure it was that. as i said the guy was a bit of a tard. he left my car running for an hour before he even started the job. i'll ask the next guy to do a cm or so at a time. don't have the cat anymore so unsure of lengths. either way the old exhaust was rusted/blown to fudge and was useless. -
Wondering if anyone could shed some light. Bought a decat off the bay a few weeks back, went to fit it yday and the backbox for the milltek won't go on, it was right up against the heatshield and wasn't sittin in the recess properly. about 2" to the right of it (looking from the rear). My initial thoughts were the decat being too long, I saw somewhere that someone had a problem with theres being slightly longer than it should of been. The center silencer seemed to sit a bit further back than it should of been, the rubber mounts were at a slight angle backwards towards the rear of the car. On

but then in terms of getting things repaired how am i supposed to go about moving the car around?
-
Not being a retard before i get flamed. however, a mechanic suggested that im allowed to drive my car around after failing an mot as long as im going somewhere for the car to be repaired and as long as its within the 10 day period after the test date. can anyone confirm this? if it is so then what are the rules surrounding it? i.e. u can only drive a car without tax/mot if ur on the way to an mot garage with a booked appointment
