no turbo.. didnt think ot it till then anyway.. no just the charger if I can. its only as its there and cost nothing. the car needs the head gasket doing anyway so just seeing if i need any thing more than standard gasket.

lol didnt look at age of thread. was looking through the search for something else saw this saw no replys.

the one that is closest to the pulleys on driver side
-
Its basically a roots type charger. the pulley thats on it will need to be changed as its from a marine diesel that has super charger with turbo. the super charger pulley is a clutch controlled by revs. when at idle it does not spin the charger, as you pick up revs to 1500rpm it loads a magnet which pulls a plate into the pully so it spins up then cuts off at 2600rpm by that time turbo is up and spooling. wil get pics tomorrow. its stripped at the mo. will have a search through, just thought I could get some direct answers here.

HI I have a track car VR6 and am thinking of super charging it. I have a super charger off a marine engine that runs at 10.1psi at 2000krpm. what is needed for the engine to run boost. head gasket compression etc.

standard engine apart fom stainless manifold and air filter. it was our 1st track with the car and its purley for track use, we are doing the water pump as a matter of cause. we have the fan switch wired up so as soon as we go on track we switch it on to full speed. so would standard gasket do the job. where does larger rads? it was bloody hot on that day and we lasted 2 hours before putting it back on the truck and going home.
-
Ok I think heat was alot of the issue as it blew on a hot track day. so would standard be ok and try and sort more cooling somehow or is there an uprated one so if it does get hot on track it should be better than a standard one? thanks
-
is there a uprated head gasket for a AAA 2.8. some people say there is a triple layer that you can get from VW has anyone got a part number?
-
I know it has the bigger brakes as when I changed them for new the pad was over size for the original that was on there so I bought 288mm discs and the fitted perfect. someone in the past put the 280 on larger calipers. not sure if its obd1 or 2 engine though? where do you get the bigger ARB? thanks this is all new as I have usually had fords before

Do the head gasket water pump etc, oil cooler, maybe going orange in a few weeks. orange, black wheels headlights wing mirrors.

Hi all I have gone halfs with a mate and bought a VR6 1995. still alot to learn about them here are the pictures of the story so far bought in feb 2010 and set about stripping it out and building our own cage made some perspex windows and got some sticky tyres manifold coilovers and poly top mounts de cat seats 1st track day at combe where after 2 hours we were back on the trailor with head gasket failure. really chuffed with how it went before hand. people coming and asking what we had done as it was showing up some quicker cars
-
answers to mine and bungys?
-
So a triple layer metal is a standard vw part? Is that from a vw parts?

I'm just on my way back from the vr6s maiden track day and we nearly made it to lunch time but had to abandon the day due to head gasket failed. Is there an updated gasket you can get. May as well as it's off? I used redline water wetter which kept water temps down a treat it was just pressurising the system. Gutting day it was going do well.

Hi. What pads can I use on standard 288mm discs for track use only. I was looking at getting yellow stuff but the guy from ebc direct said they don't do yellow in that pad shape. I asked about red stuff but he said he could not say if they would last on track. Any ideas. Need some before 19th as I am booked at combe

will it be ok to use seat leon cupra 16s they touch the front coilovers slightly so can I just put a 5mm spacer on the front to get them to fit? the seat wheels say they are et42
-
I have 17inch with slicks and poss 16inch seat leon cupra 16s if they will fit with a spacer as they touch the front coilovers.. what is the spacer can you buy it or is a case of making something ? sounds like the way to go. 1st track day is booked for 19th July at castle combe

So i need a 1/8npt sender with 3 spades and 0.5bar warning. and 10 bar gauge to match?
-
thats what I thought. the brakes were good before so should be better with the correct discs on.. just need to get me some red stuff pads now. it wont be seeing the road only track days.
-
what is involved in the 2? which is the best route to go for cost and reliability? what would the cost be to do the conversion?
-
my VR6 has 280mm discs but the caliper and pad are too big for the 280 so I tried a 288 in there and its perfect. someone has put the wrong ones in. so I have 288mm discs and pads. are there more than 2 options for the pad? one size for the 280 set up and one size for the 288?

any one want to do a fitting guide to removing and fitting a cooler?
-
"ingham" those pics of the plates does that go in place of the oil filter
-
Have you got a link to the kit you got?
-
Are they worth getting a 12 row cooler kit or are the VRs ok on oil temps on track?
