oh btw check the oil temp gauge as if it stays cold or gets very hot that would indercate the oil pumps not curculating the oil also how long has the car not been run as i heard that sometimes the oil can take 10-20 mins before its all around the engine again, if its like a taping noise it might just be a bit dry

i wouldnt worry about running the engine for short periods without watter, when i swaped my engine in i drove it for 2 mins or so without coolent or a rad and i didnt warp my head, i also had a hose brake in a no hard shoulder motorway and drove for a mile or something, the top hose should be hoter than the bottom hose as the rad cools the water down and they do firm up as the engine gets hot, they shouldnt really be "rock hard" as the pressure should be very high, if the head gasket gos that can cause exust to get into the coolent and that will increase the pressure and make the hoses rock ha

well i exspect there to be a very slow resonse rate from the gauge but if its sitting at 90c i take it that it runs at 90c, the therostate opens at 80c and fans kick in when it starts to get too hot, i dont have a fan on the front of my car and thats proble the resone my nedle never drops below 90c and also the slow response from the gauge like cragge said
-
mine sits at 90c all the time like its ment too, if your changing the therostate i recomend changeing all the watter houseing as they get so brittel

maybe your fly wheel is warped, but tbh mine done it all the time with a sach clutch then i broke that and got hold of a original vw clutch and its smooth again, i done no flywheel refurb just installed the new clutch, is it was out of allignment it would of been very hard to mate the gearbox and engine

hi people, i have my MOT due at the end of this month, im not to worried about the car going through its mot as its a safe car, but the engine was swaped in this year, i never got round to sending my v5 documents off to have the updated form saying i have a 2.8 in there, can i just take it to the mot center and get them to test it or do i need that v5 document to be updated first? i have to insure my car on the 28th to so i want to get it sorted as soon as posible.

if its not clicking then the ignision switch is not sending 12v to the starter motor relay, you have two positive wires going to the starter mottor the small one been the relay as well as the solinode to engage te starter motor, if you have no click its something to do with that -
i have a set on my car, i bought the ones made for the 1.6 though and i been driving them everyday for the last 2 years through bumpy bedford, there stiff but not stupid i rate them a fair old bit tbh, just for the note its the first set of coil overs iv ever oewned
