should of saved your money and bought a cheaper higher spec pc, i can't see how people value them as high as apple do and go spend there money on it, if you look at there current line up of computers everything outdated by 1-2 years hardware wise and is seriously overpriced, 4 or 5 years ago they used power pc chip sets and processors and that's why they were so good but now they just use the same Intel crap as any other pc so if the hardware the same its just as likely to break, times moved on get a high spec pc and install windows or Linux on it and with your spare money you could i don't kn

i used a bleed kit and i cant have anything bad to say about it, made the job easy and i had no problems with the clutch. oh i went off my tire that wasn't at the recommended pressure lol as the pump source probs about 33psi not 15psi or whatever they tell you is t5he maximum pressure the kit can take and i had a nice long bit of tube to put over the blead nipple into a old milk bottle it was rather tidy and didn't need to worried about the person pumping the pedal at the wrong time and getting air in the system.

in the boot these a black metal plate with 3 screws in it take that off and there's your pump, you need to unplug it and take the hose off (going to need new clips) then you unscrew the ring around it, i used a flat head screw driver and a hammer to knock it loose, affter you remove that you can pull it out.

i bought a 306 xtdt for 170quid taxed and moted off ebay, its not much of a car but it cost about a 3rd of what the vr6 did to run and it needs abit of tlc for its next mot but its going to cost nothing to do, it pulls ok nothing like the vr but its cheap to run so it has its good points, also it handles really well as stock dare i say not far off my vr6 on coil overs on the twisty bits, i wouldn't dare go round the faster corners at speed as its back end don't stay put like the vr6 but its fairly good for the legal driving and legal raging. ie not coming out of corners doing more than a ton

So, today I bought what I'm guessing is a rather special mk3...
p0u1 replied to ollie_'s topic in General Chat
found this when i looked for gti engineering http://www.morego.co.uk/bbr-gti/gti_MK3Eng.php#MK3PP PLUS-PAC Conversion. The Mk3 PLUS-PAC conversion is based around a unique camshaft design, developed in collaboration with Crane Cams of America, which is matched to specially modified software in the engine's Electronic Control Unit. A free flow, washable air filter element is also fitted to complete the package. The cam profiles constitute the latest evolution in camshaft design. Valve overlaps are kept to a minimum, reducing the risk of raw hydrocarbons entering the exhaust, while the special -
yea i was thinking about doing it with a m90 think i would be able to hit the 350bhp mark with a smaller pulley on the charger, but got to wait till the cash is free.

if you have a gti with the 280mm or 288mm disk on the front you will not need to change your hubs, im fairly sure you don't but you will need to change your drive shafts as there different lengths, i done my vr6 swap into a golf cl, if i was to do it again i would make sure i have a dona car as you need to swap most things under the bonnet to get it to work as well as small thing you forget like the imobiliser ring and ecu the list gos on and cost more and more, you can pick up a banger or a write of for peanuts and put that engine to some use.

i always find the cheapest way is the breakers. but the easiest ones to find on your PC are on ebay as breaking cars, iv found parts within 10miles on ebay but people always seem to want more than breakers do.
-
just a note don't watch it all expecting to see it run because it don't. Eaton charger on a vr6 i thought it was cool and its what i want to do to mine and it gave me a good in site, so thought i would share.

i payed like 40 for mine at CAS in bedford with 3 years guarantee which is perfectly fine for the cranking load of the vr6 and thats a big lump in my pocket compared to the 100quid one, been using it for two years, cars been sat up for 10 days and i started it today no problem.

Power Steering Pump Packed In???
p0u1 replied to vr6_super's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
have you reblead the system or flushed it with new p/s steering fluid, shouldn't need to but it may of gunked up, i would try do something to clean it out first before changing parts. just hope you dont have the wrong ps fluid in there not the oem VW fluid and damaged the pump and steering rack, and the belt is non adjustable, it stretches through its life and will need changing at some point, the stretch is compensated for by the tensioner, the highest pulley wheel on the belt, if that's fully unsprung and not doing its job the belt will slip and cause problems with your water pump, alterna -
i had my left bolts fall out i don't know if it was me been stupid and not tightening them but that would make sense why they came loose if they were stretch bolts, i would change them i didnt but your driving a car that will get close to the 150 mark so i would replace them if your not sure, thankfully i was only going 30 but i would hate to think what might of happened if i was on a motorway.
-
no there not you need vr6 drive shafts, get down to a breaker, the tdi ones might be strong but they wont be the right lengths

truth been its gone up for everyone but not 1500quid that's not fair in my case, the more annoying thing is i asked for a quot 3 month before just a rough idea and all they could offer back was a quot one month before my policy ends, giving me no time to sort out a car, i got lucky getting a 306 xtdt for 170quid that works and i could insure(1700 :-s 250quid first payment bit off a joke for a old diesel), but spending that lump of money in one go wasnt easy for me been young and poor :-( but i got sorted and got to keep my vr6 as my project :-)

i got two fans just no wiring loom :-p

i dont understand why the clutch would cause the car to pop out of gear? can you still drive it, like my clutch went when i dropped it into 3rd while doing 60mph on the gas into gear at on the limiter and it poped a rivet on the clutch causing it to vibrate and not really engage but i could still cruse in 5th gear at 70 without it slipping, so here i ask again why would you say clutch, sounds worse to me.

i ran my vr for 2 years with no fan, but i avoided trafic, if you want to know how long if to long to be stopped with no fan your talking 5 mins, i think you would of been fine with one fan

ok guys i decide to take my vr off the road for a year and bought a old 306 dt for the time being, being 22 its difficult getting insurance but i should be thankful i drove the mighty vr for a year and a half :-p. so plan being restore my vr over the next year and get it back on the road for end of 2012 with 1 years no clams (i hope), after driving the 306 back from where i bought it i can say its a very good car and cheap to drive 10 quid of fuel for for the 60mile trip back and still 1/8 off the tank left for me to use its very cheap compared to the vr, but im going to miss the 50mph i could
-
3100 quid as a requot bit of a joke, anyone know where else i can look as a 22year old with a vr6 in my golf cl, and i allways wonder how people can bring there self to drive without insurence but now i see, takes the piss 1600 last year and double this year

p0u1 replied to chazvr's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
by the way the only sensor to stop my car from starting was the crank sensor on the gearbox side, lamba sensor would just make it run rich but still run -

mate im in bedford i can do the work for you for very little money, i heard garges charging 200-500quid for it, i could have a look at your vr too, im in bedford so if you want a hand send me a pm and i can come see you tomorrow -
posibly dameged your ht leads, if you pulled them out by the cable you might of dameged the lead, also did you put the right spark plugs back in, the vr6 are very picky on there ht leads, iv been through many leads and the oem vr6 leads from vw are the only ones worth buying. also check the coil pack the black box what the leads plug into for any cracks, if theres cracks on the black plastic then it may be arcking before it gets to the leads. if theres cracks on the coilpack there not cheap. also why is there wires running into the top of the coilpack? looking at the pic the ht leads dameged r

i take it your talking about the jubilee clip, just get some mole grips and loosen it then go to a new one should come with the indution kit anyway, you need to keep the maf sensor inbertween the the TB and the air filter
