  1. I had an idea and at first my friends said it was crazy but after a bit of a google search, I think this might be possible and not as expensive as I first thought. So I thought I would offer it up here for discussion. The basic idea is to fit electric motors to the back wheels, giving the car 4wd. Each of these motors (Yasa 750 Axial Flux) produces 75kw cont. power (200kw peak power) and 400 nm Torque (800 nm Peak power). The car would still drive the front using the VR6 engine and would have the back powered with the electric motors. The power supply for the motors would come from a recha
  2. A standard VR6 is 20mm lower than a standard golf mk3. So if you are 55mm lower than a standard VR6 then you will be 75mm lower than a standard Golf. I just thought I should point that out in case you (or anyone else) are going to buy springs that are a fixed drop.
  3. How do I post youtube videos? It used to work for me but now it doesn't. I don't know what I'm doing wrong? The video I was trying to post is: Volkswagen Golf Mark 3 VR6 Advert It's the one with the Beetle's racing and one is faster than the rest. "Whilst it looks like any other Beetle, it has a more powerful muscle structure under it's shell and the only give away is a tiny marking on it's rear"
  4. I have been searching for this for ages, probably since I got my VR6 two years ago. This is the advert that made me want a VR6 when I was a teen and have wanted one ever since. http://youtu.be/StGU7U1UvP8
  5. The back wheel looks bigger than the front. At first glance, I thought it had a 17 on the front and a 18 on the back. Definitely photoshopped
  6. I want to get some new wheels for my mk3 and I want to know what will fit... The car will have Eibach ARB's, Koni sport adjustable dampers and Eibach Pro-street lowering springs. The Eibach springs lower a standard Golf by 30mm front and rear but the VR6 is lowered in the factory by 20mm, so these springs will lower my VR6 by 10mm. I will also add Supersport lowering top mounts and Jom lowering spring caps, both of these lower the front of the car by 10-15mm each. So the car should sit 10mm lowered at the back and 30-40mm lowered at the front (from standard VR6 height). How about?... 15x 9J, E
  7. Thanks for replying. When you say, your converting it to 2wd....is that just a blanking plate over the rear drive output or is there more to it?
  8. Hi mate, sorry to hijack your thread. Does the R32 box fit the 2.8 12V VR6. I want to do a 6 speed conversion and I'm trying to find out what box I need. If the R32 box does fit.... what code is the R32 box? Thanks,
  9. With this car you would spend £5k on a car with 120k on the clock and then spend another £5k putting it right. I think it would be better to buy a car with low mileage, FSH and no mods and then do the Turbo and other mods yourself. Spend £3k on a car then £5k on the mods. It'll work out cheaper and you know it's all done right.
  10. I have never tried them....You have just got some for your car.....why don't you tell us how good they are? I have heard good things about Eibach springs. The Pro street kit has progressive springs. They are comfortable when you drive slow but they stiffen up when you drive fast. Sounds perfect to me. They do a Pro street kit with Eibach shocks or you can get the B12 pro kit which has the same springs and Bilstein shocks. I think the Bilstein shocks must be better if Eibach are offering them in one of their own kits on their own web site. They also do a sportline kit and a B12 sport kit, both
  11. Thanks for getting back to me. It's nice to know what I passed up on.
  12. Was there any more news on this car? How is your boss getting on with it? I often think about this car and wonder if I should have got it or not.
  13. I'm looking into a 6 speed gearbox conversion for my mk3 VR6. So far using the search, I have found some info saying that I need an O2M gearbox from a 2.8 V6 4motion. On the VWVortex forum, I find a thread about the O2M gearbox, it says the one to get, is the DRP from a 1999-2000 2.8 4motion Golf/Bora. I'm a little confused, are both of these codes (O2M & DRP) for the same box? If I find a gearbox for a 2001 Golf/Bora 2.8 V6 4motion with the code DRP, is this the box I want? Or do I need to check if it is an O2M? Are there any other choice of 6 speed box's? Is this the best one to get? An
  14. Hi, I have found an R32 6 speed box. The gearbox code is KDP Will this fit in my OBD2 MK3 VR6? Thanks Dave
  15. I took my friend who is a mechanic out for a drive so he could hear and feel the problem. It only happens in fifth gear. Not in any other gear even at the same speeds. We think it is a problem with the 5th gear
  16. The air box is completely removed. The K&N air filter is just fixed on to the end of the inlet pipe and the inlet pipe is fixed to a bracket that attaches to the suspension turret. It seems secure and doesn't move much. It doesn't touch anything when I do move it. I don't think it has anything to do with the air filter. I don't feel a lot of movement when I change gear so maybe not the mounts. It only happens when I take my foot off the accelerator and I'm decelerating in gear. I can feel a lot of engine vibration through the gear stick. Thanks for your help
  17. At the moment I have a K&N air filter, you know the cone type that sucks in all the hot air. I'm going to change it for a BMC CDA very soon
  18. My vote is for a V8. Don't know anything about the Monaro but I like V8's
  19. There is a noise and vibration that sounds like gearbox whine. The car has only just started to do this. I noticed this a couple of days ago and then it got better and now it has come back. It only does it when I'm decelarating. When I take my foot off the accelerator and the car is slowing down on the engine, the whine starts and I can feel the vibrations through the gear stick. It's like a rattly whine that goes along with the revs of the engine or gearbox, I can't tell which one and when I put my foot on the clutch it stops. Also if I touch the accelerator lightly to take the strain of the
  20. Yeah, that's the car. Thanks The video I originally intended to post was this one BMW E30 [M5] Vs. VW Polo TDI I won't try to post a link because it probably won't work
  21. Still doesn't work hmmmmmm ???? Well sorry about that I don't know what I'm doing wrong. What I wanted to show you was a diesel Polo that goes up the strip in less than 11 sec and covers the world in a thick black cloud of smoke Search for VW Polo TDI and watch the video of it racing a BMW
  22. I'll try a different video of the same car http://youtu.be/C3Is3U_nmis
  23. I don't know why it's not working I have tried the little youtube button and the link button
  24. Sorry I'll try again http://youtu.be/B_zFNcQN9N8
