Ok well having spent almost £7000 on my car now i really need to sort out the alarm system at the moment it has a piranha alarm. the alarm system works but not with the fob, when i engage it from within the engine bay all the doors lock and the system engages. i then have to close the bonnet and to get back into the car set the alarm off open bonnet and turn of system via the master key. although i don't mind doing this i would rather the fob worked with it. is there any advice on this or maybe a decent alarm system i could install instead. Any help appreciated as knowing my luck some joyride

Anyone on here tried the bg44k fuel additive at all, i tried it in my gti before i bought the vr and after using it and checking carbon buildup on pistons it made a world of difference, went from black to shiny like new and my mpg went up too. just wanted to know if anyone else had any experience of it as i was thinking of running my vr with it when i get it back tommorow.

ahh, from me i believe you have a dragon green vr6. my black vr was outside the flat but that was before i needed to win the lottery.

i still come up to crawley alot as my family still live there.

another mad bloke like me then. i haven't even included the £300 + 125 fitting for my jetex exhaust, or the new alloys and tyres at £725. and am also trying hard to find a rear leather headrest in black as one was missing when i bought the car. vw think they may be able to get me the rear ones for £175. have checked web daily for one but they are never around for sale only in interior sets.

i have ordered a set of the new alloys from wolfrace for my car and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with them, are they good quality i know they are german made and have a 3 year warranty. just hope they look ok on my car, also i want to stick with 15" s for performance issues as i have read elsewhere that as you go up wheel sizes you lose some of this- and also i am too old to drive around in a car that looks too boy racerish (no offense intended). these are the wheels only released on 4th of may so won't be on everyones car either. javascript:popupWindow('http://www.ukservicing.c

ok been a member for a little while now and have owned the car since april the 4th, its a 97 highline 135k miles but owned by 2 lady drivers for the last 10 years and previously to that a fleet car for vw and when i looked at it it sounded fine, all the things i had read about i checked but i am no mechanic but always wanted a vr6 as well as a uk spec supra tt but didn't have the 10k they cost so bought the vr6 for 1150. it was a bit mucky when i bought it but thought i would get it resprayed as it sounded mechanically sound so had a respray done on it about 2 weeks after buying it. they did a

yes that is it, i bought a golf vr6 3 weeks ago and had exactly the same problem u have. got mine from ford cost me £36 and arrived the day after i ordered it.
-
yes but it wasn't put through a vw specialist for the last few years just a independant, flashing in 02 but i know its had services as i have receipts and mot's/advisorys going back to purchase in 97

whine is happening intermittently sometimes once every few minutes usually within about 15 minutes of starting to drive it then i think it stops. will have to check this once i get it back on tuesday. garage said it may be the alternator but they would look into it when i put it in for a service. i have only had it for a few weeks now so if i don't need a rebuild on it should i put it in for a big service and should i also go to a vw dealership or an independant?

Am getting my highline back on monday evening after the full respray. looking like new now am well pleased. not sure whether i should look at getting a full engine rebuild on it. got a full service history with it and it has always been serviced regularly. it has 135k on the clock and at the moment pulls great once i get it up to about 3.5k revs. was owned for the last 5 years by a mum with kids as the last advisory said could not check rear adult belts as child seats fitted. engine runs fine and not drinking alot of oil do have one concern every so often while engine is running i get a whine

Hi, was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers. Just before i bought the vr i had purchased 4 new tyres for my golf gti and paid out alot for them fitted and balanced. they are contipremiumcontact 2 86v 205/50r15. i don't want to leave them on my gti as i paid about £400 for them and the golf is only worth about £900. Anyway what i was wondering is will these tyres fit onto any 15" alloy or will i still have problems with certain ones. i like the look of the wolfrace gb - Bari 15" wheels but don't want to have to replace the tyres again. Any help will be appreciated.

Had a real close look at my vr today and it really needs a respray, want to keep it brilliant black and has a couple of dings in it. front arches, rear panels front of the roof all have rust spots although this is all surface rust. went to a resparayers in my home town, www.bexhillautobody.com/ who gave me a quote to repair all the rust spots on the arches panels doors and roof and respray bottom of doors front wings and rear panels/roof for £600 not including vat. or if i wanted a full rust patch repair and respray he will do it for £1600 +vat. does this sound like a reasonable price? if u

bugger, just been to ford and ordered it this morning, £31.00 +vat so not too bad really, though reading through the forums i noticed that there was a post about a code coming up on the dash in 01 as a minor fault and in 02 as a major. mines typically got in 02 on the dash so guess i'll have to find out what that is. there was no advisory's from the last service so i guess i'll have to wait and see

so will it have any effect on the car whatsoever. if i just put a piece of silicon hose onto it what do i do with the small pipe that comes into the top right side of that circular piece?
-
Thank you xyber it is exactly that bit. you hit the valve right on the head.

third time lucky (but i doubt it, will give up and go to ford if this doesn't work)
