  1. Cheers for the replies, I did have a 4 motion box lined up to purchase, but lucked upon a mk5 R32 one instead, which I think should have better suited gearing for my R32 engine. I think I'm going to try a stock R32 clutch to begin with, then if/when that fails I'll try something better. My budget is very tight so if I can hold out till next year for a new clutch it'll keep the mrs happy. Hopefully with my lightweight car and 2wd it won't stress the clutch too much.   2. Evening all, so my plan to keep my DSG failed and I'm going to swap to a manual 4motion setup. are there any performance clutches available? I've had a quick search and none seem to be popping up.
  3. As far as I know sciroccos have the same mounting points as mk1 golfs, so yes they are different, no subfame like the mk2/3s.
  4. I'm pretty sure with a different driver that car ran 11.1 on it's first weekend out. And if you can stretch to a pair of proper slicks over R888s you will notice a massive difference! R888 are good as they are consistent, but they struggle to get up to temp quickly and are very stiff so break traction fairly easily. In my old car I ran 1.8 60fts on normal treads (launching on tick over too). James hodson runs 1.6 60fts on proper MH slicks!!
  5. I wouldn't claim to know what I'm doing, but I'll give anything a go. How hard can it be? just read about 80% of that caddy build, what an epic journey of a build.
  6. it's only in my head ATM but I've had a lot of time to come up with it, yes I would go longitudinal, just as it is in the supra, also it could have a slightly better F/R weight distribution as my lump would sit further back being shorter than the toyota straight six. The other idea I came up with was to use a 944 floor pan, as the rear mounted gearbox would spread the weight even better, I think this would be a better plan, but the gearboxes are so expensive to get up to a suitable strength that I could probably never afford it (I was quoted 5K for just the gearset and 2k to fit).   7. I will get there eventually, but I've been trying to build the garage to do it in first, and that is taking me far longer than I had hoped to even get started! once I've got the space I'm off...
  8. I've been thinking about doing this for a long time now, the wheel bases aren't that short only 100mm less than an E30 or an ma70. I think most have gone mid-engined for ease, and thats where the problem lies. My intention is to get an ma70, lop the body off, shorten the floor and prop by 100mm, stretch my Jetta over it and get a plate to mount my R lump onto the Supra Gearbox. Bish bash bosh, a few mounts here and there and off you go! lol obviously it's a hell of alot of work, but I really can't see the down side, supra brakes/suspension/chassis my lump and body.
