  1. Hi guys duno if this has been spoken bout before, but i was wondering what would be a good gearbox swap for the vr6, i have heard before that the gearbox of the gti ABF engine is a good swap and makes the car more responsive.. is there any truth in that? What would be the best swap? thank you
  2. hahaha no worries.. but its enfield ireland! as for lukey, i see wot ur sayin, wot do u mean u have to be positive with shifts?? wot can be done to make it more nippy? nothing extreme jus small things make it a lil more responsive, no wot i mean. like i said b4 one guy polished and ported and cammed it, n he says it feels new, do these proper induction kits n exhaust systems help at all? or is that more for the sound?? i once heard sumthing from sum1.. lol u knw those stories, but he said that there is a different gear box that can be fitted that makes it also a bit different any ideas??
  3. oh yes i love the sound its what attracted me in the first place.. i suppose it comes down to pppl personel oppinions in the end... ya it does have great torque, my neck of the woods is ireland my friend, so im a bit off from there, and there arnt many vr's here so il have to make a plan. but thanx for ur help...
  4. Hi guys, i duno if im at the right placeto be asking this but i needed some info. Iv been looking around to buy a vr as i hav always wanted one, but ever now i and then i come across adds that confuse me a bit, some guys say they are quik cars and this and that, but then there are guys that say that the vr is lazy and sluggish.... that leaves me wondering, now its not something that will influence my decision i would just like to know the truth behind it. some one also said to me that their gearboxes are also sluggish... can any one clarify... i read an add the other day and the person said he
  5. thanks alot guys that clarifies a good few things i wondered about.. cheers guys
  6. ok dat makes sense... wot wud u go for obd1 or 2?
  7. hi squid1, thanks for that.. il do that. when u say internals, do u mean like pistons crank conrods?? oh and another thing i was just reading bout obd1 n obd2 on a thread.. which would u say is better? and is obd 1 the one with a distributor, and obd2 the one with coilpack? or is that something completely different? i knw this might sound dumb but what is f/i ?? thanks
  8. hmmmm ok.. yeah i have been reading up on wikipedia (very informative by the way lol) any ways wiki says The 2.9 version had a free flowing 6 centimetres catalytic converter, sharper camshafts, 4 bars (58 psi) fuel pressure regulator, enlarged inlet manifold, and larger throttle body, and when i saw that i thawt that would be fairly easy enuf to put on the 2.8, the most work would be rebore n pistons. In your opinion would u just stick with the 2.8 lump and tinker around with that or go for the 2.9 lump, u see iv got it stuck in my head that watever i do to the 2.8 lump, if i did it to the 2.9
  9. hi guys was just wondering if any 1 cud help, i was interested in buying a vr6 syncro but iv noticed they are hard to come by, so i wanted to knw if i could convert ur normal 2.8 vr into 2.9 vr. Nw i nt tlaking about the syncro system itself just the engine, coz to my understanding the 2.9 lumb has a good bit more power.. so could i convert?? i know i cud increase the bore to 2.9 but what about the head i believe they have slightly different heads.. would the 2.9 fit the 2.8 block?? so basically in summary can i make a normal 2.8 lump the same as the 2.9 syncro lump with all the extra lil bel
