  1. Anyone know what people with obd1 vr6's normally do when the master cylinder needs replacing?? part number i have found is 358611019D which is obsolete, cant find replacement anywhere
  2. I'm fairly certain the master cylinder on my 94 golf vr6 needs replacing as the brakes despite bleeding are spongy and are poor compared to the ones on my obd2 vr6 Where is the best place to get a new master cyclinder or are there any upgraded master cylinders that would be a better option?
  3. I havent used any garages in the uk but for the automatic vr6's i would definately recommend changing the gearbox oil and filter now that its at 80k
  4. they are the same I fitted a 3door headlining to a 5 door
  5. As above after a good condition BMC CDA for an 1996 GOLF VR6 OBD2 , cash waiting Rich
  6. damn i missed it due to funds hate being a student sometimes!
  7. I'm getting a quote done for repairing the rusted section around the rear passenger's window on my 3 door mk3 golf vr6 , one of the previous owners replaced the glass but scratched all the paint around the seal causing it to corrode! I'm wondering where i can pick up a new or maybe second hand window cheap to help get things under way ? I say second hand but I appreciate its bonded in so very difficult to remove without damaging the glass!
  8. thanks , in that case I'll replace them just a call to TPS to see how much im looking at , parts are slowly adding up in cost !
  9. Ok cheers mate !I'm tempted to just change the bearings then but was there a reason you changed the bearing caps as well? Just imagine they would be quite expensive !

  11. I'm looking at changing the piston rings on my 1994 vr6 at the same time as doing the head gasket & cylinder head rebuild but needed to check ,do you need to renew the bolts that hold the big end bearing caps on ? and is it worth replacing the bearings at the same time? its only on 70k
  12. that sounds like a good option , where would you say is best for braided hose & AN fittings?
  13. im having that cheers mate !
  14. After a BMC CDA to fit golf vr6 obd2, message or text/call 07478 720941
  15. yeah thats the one, how much are you after ? any chance of a pic ? cheers
  16. If anyone has some new/ good condition power steering lines would be great as mine have developed a slow leak
  17. looks spot on , what kind of paint did you use? just read through the posts which answered my question, my bad !!
  18. After genuine secondary water pump, i bought a new, non genuine one of Ebay but the plastic outlets are smaller than those on the genuine pump i removed. Cheers
  19. I've had this problem on of my vr6's and i thought it could be a weak water pump ? i never get airlocks in my 94 golf vr6 ( which has recently had a new genuine pump) but everytime i have to drain the coolant out of my other vr it seems to get an airlock even after driving for months despite trying everything! The vr6 which keeps getting the airlock had a cheap water pump fitted about 2/3 years ago before being used in a gti-vr6 conversion, with the cap off the header tank you can see it doesn't disturb the coolant even with 3000-4000rpm nearly as much as the other golf
  20. What's the best thing for re-covering the heater control doors when they loose all of their foam as I'm going to take the dashboard out and sort it. I've read that VW sell the foam but some people use Hvac aluminium tape - cover the main holes in the doors but not around the edges- has anyone found anything better?
  21. hi, im going to be stripping my engine down for piston rings ,cylinder head rebuild and other bits is there any chance you could send the downloadable version?
  22. Im pretty sure that because you would only be using 1 of the 2 outputs from the abs module you wouldn't get independent working abs control for each of the rear wheels
  23. For obd1's you have two brake lines running to the rear axle into the brake compensating valve, changed mine few months back
  24. Nice one ill order a set of wishbone bushes from vw/ audi, Thats interesting because I fitted powerflex to the rear beam of my other vr6 and they dont seem too harsh I think changing all the bushes ball joints etc is one of those jobs that once done should make a huge difference to the whole drive of the car, not exactly a pleasant job though !
  25. I'm planning on renewing all of the rubber bushes/mounts on my 1996 golf vr6. I spoke to Stealth racing and was told to only use standard Powerflex for rear beam, the black series are too harsh. They also said that instead of using Powerflex bushes on the wishbones use audi TT wishbone bushes. This is the part number I have found for them - 8N0 407 181B , if anyone can confirm this? Anyone been through this process of finding the best setup for the golfs as far as bushes go ? Trying to get a full shopping list together so I can put an order in Rich
