  1. Have you checked the Engine speed sensor (crank sensor)? IIRC if this start to act up it will cut of fuel pump. (among other things).
  2. not sure if it's what causing your problem, but just thought I'd give a tip on "hot start problem", I used to have a hot start problem with my Corrado VR6, where I tried pretty much everything to no avail, in the end it turns out some VW fuel pumps have a problem with the "non return" valve to the pump. The solution is easy fix as it's just to add a small "non return" valve in line with the fuel pump - if that's whats causing the problem, this was actually an official problem noted by VW where they supplied such a fix, but it's not available anymore (realy just a piece of hose with a built in
  3. After much troubleshooting I finaly found the culprit!...............hard to track down, very easy to fix....lol (was thinking this is gona be an easy fix). Turns out some former owner must have messed with the relay layout, or added a relay that's not supposed to be there - at least of wrong type. They had put relay number "72" into relay slot nr 5 - where 43 or "open" is supposed to be..... This caused it making a circuit over the coil in the relay, feeding the gauge a false signal...... Ohh, well that's out of the way!
  4. Just thought I'd add a picture I made on how I read from the bentley - and maybe someone can confirm if I'm right or wrong - when it comes to the wiring of the Yellow temp sensor:
  5. Yea, I'm trying to figure out the wiring in the bentley...........for me it looks like there is only a wire running directly to the sensor, and not going thru the ECM unit. I'l have to have a closer look at this - it's bugging me (I presume the Track numbers in the bentley is only to make it easier to trace it - and not actuall points on the car ??)
  6. I'v had this problem since I bought the car, and realy never looked into it to much, but want to get it sorted - so if anyone got any idea where I might start feel free to chime in. Here is a video with the temp-sensor disconnected (Yellow temp sensor) http://s16.photobucket.com/user/Mawrick/media/13050049_zps2cf9e72f.mp4.html Here is a video of the cluster when the temp sensor have been connected again: http://s16.photobucket.com/user/Mawrick/media/13050050_zps46aa5c11.mp4.html It will do the same from a complete cold start (on video oil temp was around 60 C). I'v confirmed the cluster is wor
  7. IIRC if the engine speed sensor is failing it won't allow for fuel delivery..... (it's the sensor in the front - low on engine (around oil cooler area).....I think also the hall sender in the distributor (if not a coilpack model) have something to do with beiing "allowed" to send fuel). Beware though that the Engine speed sensor will throw an error if the car is scanned without running - even if it works.....
  8. Anyone have any idea what might cause the engine temp gauge to rise to roughly 70C's when putting on the ignition (1995 Corrado VR6). The cluster is ok - as it's been tested in a Passat VR6, and if I hook up the cluster from the Passat in the Corrado the same thing happens, so it have to be something with the wiring. The temp sensors have also been replaced. If I remember correctly I measured different voltage on the yellow plug that plugs into the sensor on the Corrado then I did on the Passat - I *think* it was about 6V on the Corrado and abouit 12V on the Passat. (can't remember the pin num
  9. thnx guys! Realy not that much of plans further - although most likely a "never ending" project so will be small things done I guess. Will keep it standard OEM car. Will have to adjust down those coils though.... And figiure out a little "starting problem" - sometimes have to crank for quite some time before it fires - it always starts though....
  10. thnx m8 - pretty much a standard C, but tried to get it up to the standard it was in when first entering the streets....lol.. hopefully gone a bit beyond that - for me it's a summer car as the salty roads of Norway would tear it apart within a few years....
  11. Might add that it came with airbags - AFAIK not so common on the C:
  12. Just thought I'd put in a few pics of it after the registration - better photo's to come eventually - have been to busy driving it to get time for another wash and a "photoshot" YES! I know it sits to high - will also be adjusted a bit down on the height
  13. installed the DubNutz stainless steel fuel lines and Gruvenparts fuelline brackets: And some pics of the front brake calipers sitting on car:
  14. Finaly some real progress being done on this Corrado. - Got new brake lines and hoses +++ fitted (going to have to get some new OEM VW brake hoses though as the goodridge stuff I bought is total cr** IMHO - the rear was wrong, and the front ones (one side) doesn't seem to hold the seal properly... ). - Got the engine fitted in the car - still some electric to be connected, and some of the water hoses etc. - Missing the air-intake as I lost the gasket between the TB and the air intake - new one ordered. - Partly fitted the Hartmann Exhaust system - missing the midle "pipe" as I have to cut it t
  15. Got the drivetrain re-fitted, and it's now able to stand by itselfe (Today - so a small mile stone). The rear axel ready to go on - brakes refurbished at Bigg red and everything else is new (don't mind the old brake line - it's getting replaced)... Looks like it could do with a small scrub: And no - it's not the rims I plan to use
  16. The engine is now almost ready, the chain have been done, new lifters, new valve stem seals, MK4 head gasket, new stainless crack pipe, all new plastic (thermostat housing etc), all new sensors on the oil-filter housing, and in thermostat housing. it's pretty much assembled only missing the crack pipe/thermostat housing + a few other bits a pieces. The block have also been etched primed and painted with anthracite gray. Some bad phone pics from the painting: Etch primer: And the anthracite gray paint (2 coatings) (I did 3 thin coats - but pics taken after second painting) (it's currently dr
  17. Maybe the colors are a bit more correct here then the previouse pix - it still got some "spark" to it though...lol Oil sump: The heat shield in the rear fender: Heat shield over the exhaust manifold: Engine cover: Exhaust manifold: Engine mount: Bracket: Oil filter housing: Lower intake minifold: Intake manifold:
  18. Some small updates - things takes time.... Subframe almost finished assembled, with new R32 rear bushings, new front bushings: New ball joint and swaybar end link: The wheelhub and dirt shields: More dirt shields and wheelhubs: And finaly a bad shot of the wheel"house" with new Volkswagen Long life Underseal: All parts from the Stealer...
  19. Tear it up: Engine ready for cleanup, chain replacement, and maybe a new head gasket, and doing the "top".. Ready for blasting and coating:
  20. Just thought I'd add my thread here as well - it's a bit old "thread" so timline isn't necesarrely correct now I picked up this Brombeer 95 VR6 from Stockholm - Sweden (2008), it's a bit hard to start, but haven't been able to go over it properly yet.......drove it about 1000 km from Stockholm to Bergen - Norway. The pics are quite bad, as I haven't taken any pics of it myselfe yet, but this is how it looked while it was still swedish... Funny story about this car though, was never sold as a new car as it was in use by Volkswagen themselves, according to VW Automuseum (long story short, du
  21. Anyone know if the Yellow temp sensor still is available from VW ? Only shows up as black/blue in etka, but heard that the yellow one supposed to be "better", if available does it have another part number then the black one replacing it?.
  22. IIRC yellow (might be colored black these days - but it's the same), if you had AC you would also need a brown one
  23. I think it was bought from Germanautoparts so might not be a genuin OEM sensor........maybe a problem ?
