Throttle position sensor problems
paulbin replied to paulbin's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Ok I've been doing some digging around and I unplugged my throttle position sensor yesterday and the car died, would this mean the maf sensor is dead? -

I has my vr on the diagnostics yesterday and we found that the throttle position sensor is playing up as it was only reading 3% throttle on idle and 75% on full open throttle. Is the TPS dead? What problems would that give me?

The clutch in my vento vr has always been heavier than my other vr, but recently the biting point has been getting higher. Could this be the clutch on it's way out? It's not hard to change gear and it hasn't slipped yet. Any ideas

I have got one of the manifolds in the first link, it has a plate saying it's a toyosport make. I've compared it to pictures of raceland manifolds and they seem to be the same. It came with all good gaskets, adapters to fit the cat and spring bolts to put it all together. I was very pleased with the quality and haven't had any problems to far.

How much heat wrap will be needed to wrap the manifold?

I've just got myself a 6 branch for the vr, would you guys recommend putting a flexi in the exhaust for extra movement?

Fuel gauge not reading properly.
paulbin replied to paulbin's topic in I.C.E, Security an Electrical
I checked the sender out bent the bar more and it made it worse so I straightened it out alittle and now works perfectly -
Its only a small problem but it really does my head in, when I fill the vr up (rare occasion) the gauge doesn't reach the full mark, I don't think it's a sticky gauge because it will move straight away when driving. Any easy ideas that I can try??

Blue engine temperature sensor
paulbin replied to paulbin's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
It smells very rich when it's warm and up to temperature and it smokes like it's on choke when ticking over. it seems very thirsty aswell although the mpg gauge seems normal. I've got the mot coming up and just want to sort things out before -
If I suspect the blue sensor is nackered will disconnecting it change how the car runs? Specially if the sensor is fine??

Is it only the maf and lambda sensor that tells the ecu how to fuel the engine correctly?

I'm loosing oil in my vr6, it's only done 99000 miles from new there's no mixing in the water and no Mayo on the dip stick or oil cap. There's no leaking coming from the sump so no oil when parked up. I think I've lost a few litres in about 200 miles. I dong think its burning it either as theres no smoke from the exhaust. Any ideas?
