Sourcing a Offside front wing help?
dylanbliss replied to AcousticNRG's topic in Bodywork and Styling
I'm really after some carbon front wings - at the moment i'm in 2 minds whether to go for a Mk3.5 front end, but if the carbon wings come along i'll hold off... -

Fingers crossed mate - i'll leave the battery on charge overnight and try early morning - was hoping i'd not have any problems with this car, i've almost rebuilt the MK4 V5 its had so many issues, bloody thing! As a side note, if i need to get another set of leads, are the OE ones the best bet? Or are there another set that are recommended but not silly money? -
Right - had the VR about a month now, when i bought it, it had an oil leak from one of the pressure sensors - had them both changed, all well. Although recently noticed i have another leak from what i think is the O ring behind the oil cooler. On my list of things to do, but ive been topping it up with the recommended Synta oil so no worries. Last night coming home on a short 5 min trip, was going round a sweeping fast-ish (60ish) left hander and the oil light flashed and started beeping. Slowed down, dropped my revs low and limped it gently to my place, about 30 seconds on. The beeping stoppe

It all got damn hot, i know that much, It was all glowing red when the gf got home! The next day i snapped my allen bar trying to get the caliper bolts out, they were seized solid! Couldn't spend any more time on them so gave in and got the car to my mate's garage so he could get it up on a ramp and give it some proper welly - new bearing on now, get it back tomorrow. Do you know where i might get the torque settings for the other hub nuts, in case any of the others have been overtightened?

Now that's a possibility - i've only had it a couple of weeks.

Has anyone had this happen to them? I had one go noisy and horrible on my Mk4, but it took aaaages, and was more annoying than anything, still hardly any play in it whn i eventually changed it, but the better half took the VR out the other night to her mates, no noise or play from the wheel when she left, 20 miles later she phones me up, saying theres a squeaking noise coming from the rear wheel... She limped it home, and the bearing had fallen to bits so bad, that the disc was rubbing the top of the caliper where the wheel was loose! You could push the wheel with the top of your foot and it m

You're going to pay a fortune for that size, cos they're only made by 1 manufacturer it seems, after a quick search, and even then, they're pretty rare. Try the still rare but cheaper 165/45x15 Federal, £50ish each. http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&Cookie=froogle&details=Ordern&typ=R-125110&ranzahl=4&nichtweiter=1

Which winter wheels? (Tyres actually...)
dylanbliss replied to 85jas's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Uniroyal Rainsports have been mentioned to me once or twice, and seem to have great reviews. Blackcircles are listing one at £71 for a 205/50x15... Might get them a bit cheaper with shopping around or going for a set of 4. -
You would need a rediculous amount of stretch for the tyre to just come off under any amount of driving - just keep your tyre pressures right and make sure the tyre itself is in good nick and i don't think you'd ever have any problems. The drift boys in Japan have been running stretch for years - it gives them a stiffer sidewall to aid breaking traction from one side to the next, so i think you'd start to slide before you ever rolled your tyre bead off, especially with the mild stretch you'd be going for. If you had a 195/45 on a 9j rim, you might be a bit closer to that!

Very VERY interested in a pair of carbon wings - bonnet perhaps too...

I'm not a million miles away from you mate, would be interested to hear what you thought about the tin worm on my VR! Do you have an email address i could send some pics to? The bottom of my nearside front wing is swiss cheese (although im planning to just swap the wing) and i have a 2 inch blister of rust coming through the paint on the nearside rear arch....

Nice one - the armoured door plates fitted to the car are a little tatty and rusty, so when i replace them i'll do the handles at the same time. Gonna be giving it a proper wash, clay, polish and wax this wekend hopefully, so i'll post some pics in the relevant section! -

Oh yeah - and can rear door handles be fitted in place of the front ones to easily delock the car? -
Hi guys and girls, picked up my new VR6 Highline yesterday, but there seems to be a little leak from what i think is an oil pressure sensor / switch. It's the left one out of the pair, but i'm thinking i may as well change the pair while im at it. I went to TPS to grab one, but as i don't know which sensor i need, they couldn't help me much! Would anyone know the part numbers for these? (I did have a look in the common part no's thread 1st ) Cheers in advance Dylan
