    Hi I just joined the site, maybe too late to help with this one! I got a pair of HIDs on ebay, from manufactory 88. They cost £15 (yes really) and £25 p+p. Upon asking I was recommended to get the "warning cancellers" also, for an extra £12, so we're up to £52. Delivery was in a few days, and the lights have been fine. Yes mounting the ballasts is a puzzle. I got the 6000k version, I would certainly not go higher. I thoroughly recommend these lights, fantastic for the dipped beam. But I would like to know how these could be used for main beam, as they take quite a few seconds to reach s

    Hi sorry for late reply I just joined the site. I had the same problem, lack of engine temperature. Just fitted a standard stat from Euro Car Parts about £8. Quite tricky to get at, need to remove coil etc, but completely solved the problem, now reaches 90 deg in 3 - 3.5 miles and never moves again. Heater good too even in the recent weather. I refilled with Glysantine G50 (available from Bill Moss at Track Smart 01327 300400) mixed at 50% with water. De ionised water would be good but I didn t use it.     I had some lack of heat issues with my 97 car recently, only reaching 70 or perhaps 80, when it had always run at 90 - 95. A new thermostat worked the miracle cure for 8 quid (and 2 hours work!), it now reaches 90 in 3 miles and stays there rock steady. Thats what I'd be trying. Incidentally I used Glysantine 50 coolant additive to top up which is suitable and mixes with G12. I think its easy to find. Thermostat housing is like one of those impossible plastic puzzles though...

    I did have a misfire problem after a service by a non vw garage. Turned out to be the HT leads not fully seated on the plugs. Check all are clean and fitted correctly. Plugs can bve a problem but last a long time in my experience.
