    Hi there , I've had a problem with my 4 mo central locking for over a year , I had to lock/unlock the car with the key and put the key in the ignition to stop the alarm going off , vw garage had it for 4 hours and couldn't solve it in the end they said I needed a new coms unit at about £700 fitted , I couldn't afford or justify that money on remote central locking , I found a post on another forum which read some car stereo adapters send a feed back to the ignition barrel making the car think a key is in so remote central locking wont work ! I removed my stereo and adapter block and the remot

    Just as any car really , side of the road checks are never brilliant , I bought mine 2 years ago of eBay for £2000 and it's never let me down until electrical prob as above , good luck with it buying a used car is always a bit of a gamble

    I would be careful with this , I recently had my 4mo in at vag for my keys recoding as a couple of month ago the remote central locking stopped working I was quoted £49.00 for this 4 hours later I'm still sat there ! I was told it needs a new convenience control module . This operates things like central locking , door chimes , alarms and safety features at £743.53 it's something on my I've got to save for list

    We had a t4 reimo from new for 8 years it never missed a beat , as a work van/ camping van I would look at a different make based purely on the price the t4 & t5 are commanding . My vivaro was about £4500 less than a same spec t5 , having said that the cool thing about a t4 is the factory front height adjustable suspension , a set of 40 mm lowering springs on the back and you can drop it on the floor in 15 mins
