Breather filter = smokey on idle? Strange issue...
VR6II replied to VR6II's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
UPDATE: When running no breather filter off the rocker cover does oil consumption go up?? -
I'm having no joy in trying to put a set of white dials in my OBDI, surely itd be simple but i've made the same mistake twice now :@ The first time was with a set of clocks from a total waster on EBay with the wrong mileage stated, gauges not working etc. but now i have a set of good condition Lockwood white dials but my dials start at 10mph as opposed to 0. the dials i've got my OBDI dials Does anyone know of anyone who sells white dials beginning at 10?... Will give up on the idea of white dials if not, no 3rd time lucky for me!

My aim is to get just over the 200-205bhp mark so 25bhp odd up from factory, although i know its not all about bhp figures and more how the power is delivered and putting a smile on the driver's face! -
I may be asking an age-old question and might not even get an answer due to every rolling road being different etc. but just want to get an idea of whats the most power that can be squeezed out of the vr6 lump while keeping it naturally aspirated?? I have a 2.8 OBDI in a mkII Golf and have started off with the Corrado 2.9 throttle body & inlet, 6 branch manifold (questionable i know) Induction kit and de-cat system. A set of lairy/268 cams would be next and some head work but what bhp could i expect from the OBDI after that? what would then be the next step OR is there any other minor twe

This could still clarify things as i havent found an answer yet after posting: http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?479047 I have my eye on a clock set that the owner has said came from a 2.0 Cabby, but the connector at the back looks the same as my OBDI vr6. Im guessing it would fit BUT would it then give inaccurate readings as they are 140mph clocks as opposed to 160mph vr6 :/ Sorry if i may be stating the obvious and it may sound a stupid question, but just want clarifying...

Ok but its a case now where i need a new clock/instrument panel itself - its a long story! :-( Just need to know if the clocks from mk3 vr6's are all the same connector at the back, whether it be OBD1 or 2? Cheers

Hi there, After being stung on EBay by a set of clocks that were both half faulty and totally incorrect mileage as stated :@ I am now on the lookout again for a set of clocks that reflects the mileage covered since the engine under-went a full rebuild but are the ports at the back of OBD1 and OBD2 clocks the same? Im running OBD1 in a mk2 Golf so any advice is needed before i end up getting another wrong set of clocks!

I'd like to get any opinions from those of you with custom exhausts done... I wanna get a full custom system made up for my mk2 vr6 being a 6 branch manifold with 2.5" piping back to a Remus backbox. Ive used a local garage for my previous modded motors which is listed on this site: http://www.eurosportexhausts.co.uk/Dealers.html Just want to see if anyone had any good experiences with anyone else? I haven't heard great things about my local Powerflow dealers so any feedback would be good

Bargain! Gutted i didn't see this, wouldve saved me a few bob. Im gonna save this seller, seems he does good prices on vr bits!

I've just had this problem in the last couple of weeks and took the next couple of weeks trying to sort it! 1st thing i would recommend, just from my experience doing it, is to get everything new - especially the o-rings for the 3 sensors, the 2 "crack" pipe rings - that runs from the thermostat housing to the water pump and especially that gasket that connects to the block, my GSF didn't do it so had to go VW on a number of trips :-( I searched quite a few threads on here and some helpful guys with advice such as 'russj249' got me through it

Anyone? Anything else? I've tried the above + bridging 2 ports on the rad fan switch but nothing. I have a mk2 vr6 and can't seem to find the Rad Fan Control Module that i have looked up on here - had one near the header tank on my 'rado vr6 but cant see anything with my mk2... totally outta idea's so any help would be good, if anyone is local to me, even better! -
