Well I got the engine all fitted and wired up last week only to find out the big ends were dry when I tried to start it. So I sourced a new engine which needed valve stem seals done. I brought it home took the head off and swapped it with my rebuilt one, Put it all back together and slotted it back in. It fired up but it was only running on 3 cylinders which I have diagnosed as bad fuel injectors. Anyone have any lying around for sale ? Anyway heres some pictures of how it stands just now Now I need to start sorting through all this wiring and cut out what isnt needed Comments welcome

Well some of you may have seen my build thread with my VR6 Rage buggy. Anyway its almost finished but one of the main problems is the gear linkage. It needs to have 2 bends in it and I have already joined 2 sets together to get it to reach but its still too short. So is there anything else I could use or can you buy longer cables. I tried searching google and I can only really find 1 build thread with a rear mounted vr6 and the guy doesnt go into detail about how he done the linkage. Anyone any ideas? Thanks

Well after rebuilding my 2.9 obd1 vr6 engine I tried to start it and it turns out the big ends are away so I stripped it all back down again and they are pretty bad heres a pic, So do you think the crank will need reground because of this or would I be better trying to get a new one from someone breaking their engine to save the hassle of getting it reground and getting oversize shells ? Also there is 2 slight scratches on one of the cylinder walls, Would I be able to smooth them out with a honing tool or would it need to be bored out ? If it needs bored can you use oversize piston rings as I

Those shocks and springs were just put on for it to sit on but it will be lowered a lot more and have shorter shocks and springs. I tried to get the engine lower but couldnt because the sump was sitting on the chassis and I had already tried to use the golf subframes but it wouldnt work or make it any better. thanks for the comments, I'll hopefully have another update in a week or so

Just thought I would share my latest project with yous and see what yous think. Any thoughts and questions feel free to ask. Well the timing chain snapped on my vr6 and bent 10 of the valves so I stripped the whole engine and cleaned, Painted and rebuilt it with all new parts. Including rebuilt head, hotgolf lightened & balanced flywheel, Performance clutch, Stainless bolts all round ect. Here are some pics of the engine. So the engine was ready to be put back in the car then I bought a rage buggy with no engine and thought it would be a good idea to fit the newly rebuilt engine in it a

Hi guys, Well I'm just looking for some advice really, I need a shorter driveshaft (nearside) for my vr6 project but I was wondering rather than paying to get it shortened and balanced ect is there any shafts off other cars I could use instead ? Or mix and match the cv joints with other shafts to make a sort of hybrid if you get what I mean lol Thanks, Gordon

Dont know if this is the right section but didnt know where else to put it. I've got a spot blaster and I'm wanting to blast my lower and upper inlet manifolds but I've heard you cant use sand. Has anyone done this before or know what media I should use ? Thanks, Gordon

but when I move it one tooth its too far It just doesnt seem to line up exactly if I move the crank slightly then it can line up and the crank is then out by a millimeter so do you reckon it will be ok mate ?

Hi all, Well I've been on here a while now and thought it was time I started a project thread about my engine rebuild. So the story so far . . . I bought this nice golf gti with a 2.9 coraddo VR6 engine (98k miles on it) already fitted as a weekend/track car as I have a puma'd fiesta zetec s for getting to work and back. It came with loads of paperwork and I was pretty happy with my purchase After two happy months of ownership I was driving along doing 40 then . . BANG!!!! Engine cuts out and I slowly roll to a stop. In my head I already had a pretty good idea what was wrong. So got it to

Hi guys, I'm rebuilding my VR6 due to snapped chains and I was wondering how to get the intermediate sprocket off as it is cracked ? Do I just needty use a chain oil filter wrench to hold it while I get the bolt off or is there another way ? Thanks, Gordon

Could you not wire them from the constant 12v for the stereo ? Would be a lot easier than running another wire all the way from the battery mate

Hi guys, I'm fairle new here and have had my vr6 for about a year even though the engine has been on a stand for most of it. Anyway I've stripped the whole block down but have kept the pistons and crank in it. I want to paint the block and have read a few topics from different forums about using hammerite but I know the vr6 is a hot running engine and was just wondering would this still be ok or is there a better way to paint it ? Thanks, Gordon
