  1. Well things like that you wouldnt want to share lol. But I went to a breakers near me today and they had a sharan and galaxy vr6 which would be useful if someone was after engine bits! I saw it on another forum and thought it was a really good idea
  2. Think it would be a good idea to put a thread of scrap yard spots of vr6s etc.
  3. Thanks, yeah they're for the mcpherson struts, thought they were all mcpherson anyway...
  4. Will they fit? Mates got some springs off his tdi and I want them
  5. Mine doesnt work, the clocks look like theyve been replace. Is it a fairly common fix? Its quite annoying especially as I have to turn my fan on manually! Which is another question, how do you get it to turn on automatically? And finally, just a general question, as the clocks are digital, is the mileage recorded on the actually clocks? Or is the data stored somewhere else? Just wondering as mine have been replaced.
  6. Yeah I suppose I should get them replaced, going to need to pay over the odds though, need the car for work on Monday so having to take it to the only garages open on Sundays....Kwik-Fit and F1 autocentre! Pricey bill here we come fingers crossed they'll be able to do it though
  7. Had a good look under the car, turns out its a brake line which has the smallest of cracks in it but pisses out fluid when you brake. Are these ok to weld up? The crack is tiny so would seem unecessary to completely replace it at expense
  8. Topped it up, doesnt seem to do anything. But I'm guessing that it is a leak of the fluid as its coming out where I said. Although the rear near side brake line doesnt connect to it
  9. Brakes are basically going to the floor if I apply gradual pressure to them Had a look over and there is something leaking just infront of the passenger side rear wheel, i assume this is something to do with it. Can someone just confirm what this is?
  10. Does anyone know how to get hold of the matte black paint with the slight gloss affect which you get on the newer cars. I dont like complete matteness of the paint 2 links I like this type (hate the car though) http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200810/black-matte-bmw-x6-3_460x0w.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/matte-black-bmw-x6-ar65517.html&usg=__MErS7TCQMSqZh3kNihaKbKpHR6w=&h=306&w=460&sz=27&hl=en&start=0&sig2=cUNcJoTUiw_-5tF1uwBLpA&zoom=1&tbnid=kBSPx0lUFldB0M:&tbnh=158&tbnw=211&
  11. When I rag it through first it properly crunches into second, fine when I drive normally but horrible when I dont. I'm guessing its the gear linkages, how would I go about fixing this? I know on my old rover it was a "fairly" simple job, still took me ages though!
  12. I always to refer to ventos as golfs with a boot to people who have never heard of them. May sound silly but are they actually like for like under the body work? And is it just the boot is bigger? Also performance wise are they the same? I assume they're a bit heavier but I cant imagine that much. I see vento specs on different websites saying 0-60 is 7.9 where as a golf is 6.9. I cant imagine the boot would add an extra second....
  13. Thanks for replying. If you could lend a hand it would be much appreciated, obviously I'd pay but I cant afford the £60 p/h garages charge and I dont have the confidence to go it alone! I do know my way around cars once I know what I'm doing its just as I've never done anything so major I dont want try it and screw up. I suppose doing both of the chains would be the safe bet, I was talking to a guy who lived opposite where I got it recovered who had a mk6 polo vr6 conversion who said he did his for £150 for the parts and then labour on top. does this sound about right? and where would you s
  14. Sorry to bring this up, I know that its been talked about a lot Basically today I started to hear a loud knocking, and after some research it confirmed why worries that it is the timing chain. I see that there are 2 chains to replace and I've found this how to guide very useful http://www.vwforum.com/forums/f14/vr6-timing-chain-40670/ However I've read in a few places that some people chose to only replace usually the top chain. I'm a bit short of money at the moment and cant really afford to do them both and would much rather just do the one if i can get away with it. Is there anyway of so
