    Need some wiring help lads. Fitted a vr to my 8v gti mk3. Everything works. Apart from the reverse lights. Now the car has been running for a year now. I did a continuity test from the reverse light switch on the gear box to the fuse and nothing. So i have managed to trace it to the rad control mod. No broken wire to there. Now i am trying to get to the fuse box area. I have looked on the a2 wiring and that says the white plug (F) connector 6&7 (black/red & black/blue) so tried to do a conti test from the connector under rad control mod to the black/red & black/blue F connector and

    Sounds like chain/guide slapping? Get a new kit and if i was you take the head off and get everything checked over? Also get the metal head gasket?

    Lads i need a good set of tyres for my car. I have proxies on drives side and conti on pass (yes i know) anyway pas side wheel spins sooo easy. Im thinking about getting proxies. Can anyone tell me which other make is good? Now i dont do track and my car is an anni with a vr in it. So i have the bbs rx2s on it. Need to get 215 40 16 but which letter should i get at the end of it?

    Did you put on coilovers? If so check the nut that holds the struts in (circle but with 2 holes in it)

    Defo the spring around the crank shaft seal. Maybe it wasnt put on properly the 1st time

    Whats the worse that will happen if i have the fat white/red wire bridged with the slimmer white/red wire? Basicaly 2 wires on 1 connector?

    I bridged the yellow plug sensor on the thermo and it made a click noise everytime i bridged the brown wire with the red/brown wire as said in the post below. Fans/pump after-run fault-checking You can use the following procedure to find out if your yellow temp sender is the cause of no after-run or not. This does not necessarily prove that the yellow temp sender is working, but it will prove if the circuitry that it controls is working or not.     Could it be that im not using all 4 wires as i have 3 pin fan instead of the 4 pin fan. As im running twin fans. P.s the car the engine came from had ac i think.

    Well i unplugged the plug from the fan mod but the car was cold so the fans didnt run. There isnt a problem with the switch. They work fine but turn off as soon as the ignition is turned off.

    You want me to unplug the fan control unit and see if the fans kick in when the ignition is off?

    My vr has a misfire when the engine is at operating temp hot. It has a slight misfire at 1100 revs and does it when you want to move quick. It doesnt do it all the time. I fitted some new sparkies 2 weeks ago. Put some lucas injector cleaner in now i have some wynns fuel cleaner. The spark leads look good. I cant see any cracks in the coilpack and tried to look at spark jump at night time but i couldnt see anything. Next week i will be ordering some spark leads. And get another coilpack. Anyone shed any light?

    I have fitted a vr to my 8v. Now iv never owned a vr before. With my 8v when the engine was hot and fans kicked in they used to stay on. But with the vr as soon as i turn the ignition off they turn off but if i tur the ignition back on they start back up. The loom has 4 wires for the fans but i have a 3 pin fan so i have choped the main fat red/white (i think) and connected the other wires up. Can anyone shed any light. P.s i have a new nissens rad fitted with twin fans

    Bit of an update. I fitted new sparkies and still having same issue. So will buy some ht leads and see what happens from there.
