  1. Aargh, just my luck, shoulda posted months ago been looking since summer, cheers anyway. Na nothing else needed, thanks
  2. Hello people, I'm after a roof liner in good condition preferably black but I'll take any colour, mk3 golf 3-door with sunroof, also I'm based in south London if that helps. Cheers
  3. Thanks for the replies, come Saturday I'll have a proper look, check the oil, pollen filter and get it on my mates ramp and investigate, somehow I'm hoping it's the matrix rather than oil coolers giving way Cheers
  4. Hello lads, my windows on my 97 highline keep misting/steaming up, I'm getting hot air from the heater but it's not clearing the windows, after driving for about 20 mins it starts, and it starts to smell of hot water/coolant, I am losing maybe 1-2cm of water per drive, the air con has been removed in the past if that helps narrow things down, the carpets aren't wet at all, oh yeah and my temperature gauge is fine always on a steady halfway. Is it my matrix or could it be something else. I've only had this one for a couple years and the guy I bought it from said he'd recently had it changed??
  5. Hello mate, cheers for the exhaust, I'm gonna have a proper look on the weekend, doesn't sound like a blowing exhaust though
  6. The exhaust was changed from the cat back so I'm pretty sure he didn't touch the lambda. And yes I unplugged the MAF while it was running and there was no change at all. Cheers
  7. Cheers lads, if there was no change when unplugged then I'm thinking the MAF would not be the problem? Is there a chance I could have bought a dodgy coil pack maybe as it was an eBay job £80 brand new advertised as for vr6 or Ford? I think it's about time that I invested in a decent vagcom
  8. No, not losing any water, my first thought was maybe MAF even though it was ok before garage visit. I tried unplugging it and there was no difference whatsoever not even a slight change.
  9. Hello lads & ladies I'm after some advice - symptoms first - golf vr6 97 running erratic revs up and down sounds like a tank even when warmed up quite smokey off whiteish colour strong smell of petrol. Little story to go with it - the car has been garaged for a while decided to get her ready for the summer, running fine all it needed was an exhaust and wheel bearings all round so off to my local vr6 'specialist' i sourced a decent exhaust and he got the bearings, so I got a phone call a week later saying it needed a coil pack which I got and gave to him and two weeks later I went to collec
  10. Ahh Pete, my first thought was some kind of fuel starvation, but why only when hot, I thought once a relay had died that was it finished, can they be intermittent?
  11. Nice one bungy I've got a guy down my way who's got one I'm gonna try and see him this week if I get an early one from work. Cheers Ben, interesting point as I have been having probs with my alarm but it's aftermarket Sigma which will prob have two cuts, I know for sure one is Ignition, if the second is the fuel pump then there's a chance that could be the problem, but the only thing steering me away from that is it only seems to happen after a long drive and then comes back after a 5 min cool down... I'm gonna VAG-com it and hopefully if I find the problem I'll let you know Cheers lads
  12. Cheers Bungy, no the fuel cap is as loose as usual, no mayonnaise. The fuel filter hasn't been changed. It done exactly the same thing today, done about 10 miles fine and on the way back she was murder conked out about 10 times taking longer to restart each time. Also been told that it could be my crankshaft sensor? But as you said a quick plug into a VAG might narrow things down...
  13. I've got a problem and not sure what it could be - I was driving yesterday down the north circular done about 10 miles and the engine just died coasted for about 30 secs and restarted picked up straight away, this happened 5 times before I reached my destination, left the car for a couple of hours and than came home with no probs at all, I only drive her on the weekends and been on the track once with no probs, new coil pack about 8 months ago, new plugs, leads and oil change about a month ago, only 55,000 on the clock (95) only thing I noticed was that the coolant level had dropped about an i
  14. cheers lads, see I'm getting a lot of mixed feelings on the yellow stuff, I haven't heard anyone mention Ultimax yet, I'm gonna have a look into them right now, cheers
  15. Hi, I'm after a bit of advice - I'm upgrading my front brake set-up to 312mm and have been scouring the net for info but nobody seems to agree on anything. I want a good set of disc's and pads, so far the best choice seems to be Black Diamond grooved and EBC red stuff pads, my VR is mainly going to be on the track. Any advice would be much appreciated, cheers.
  16. Before putting the needles on properly, line them up just above the base line and gently press them onto their pins but only about a quarter way down (in case you need to make further adjusment) just till they grip, then push them with as little pressure as possible anti-clockwise until you feel resistance. If your still above the base line then you should still be able to push a little further until they line up, if their alredy pass the base line take them off and start again. Once they are lined up correctly press the needles down a bit firmer until they are about 3 quarters down - no need
  17. Is there a secret to re-aligning the needles on the clocks? I had a problem and had to swap some bits around onto a doner cluster, but when I replaced the needles at zero and plugged them back in the car, as soon as I turn the ignition on they all drop back past the zero except the rev counter... Could anyone tell me if im doing somthing wrong? Cheers
  18. No joy, VW don't set the clocks back, they told me 'best thing to do is look on the internet for someone who does it privately.
  19. Cheers Steve, didn't know that vdub could set your clocks back, i'll put the clocks back together and go and see them, i've got a bit of history, see what they say. Cheers again
  20. Hi, my temp gauge is not working, I have changed the 4-pin sensor and still nothing, so I managed to get hold of another set of clocks - swapped them over and the gauge works fine. What do I do now? The clocks that work have 138000 and the original clocks have 94000, I've stripped the clocks down as far as I can go but all I can see to change them is loads of de-soldering and soldering. Is there another way around it, cheers 1995 vr6
