Hi all As I slowly collect the parts to turbo my car I have hit a slack point and I am thinking about building my short runner intake manifold. I have a few questions though.... 1. Is there a desired pipe diameter for the manifold....5,6,7" 2. what side should the throttle body be on. I plan to fit it to the left hand side but have seen some on the right hand side... 3. Can I test it on my stock N/A engine....or will I lose power/torque..... Sorry for all the questions.. Cheers Ryan

Hi all I am building a 2.9 engine with a eaton m62 charger but wanted some extra work done on the engine so I emailed a company about lightening and balancing the vr6 bottom end for me and regrinding some cams to 264 or slightly more profile. They have replied and there prices are good but the guy has asked if I want the head converted to solid lifter..... Can someone explain this to me....are the lifters completely replaced and what are the benefits.... Ryan

Luckily I have managed to get hold of two vr gearboxes that require some work and two gearboxes, one with a 4.2 and one with a 3.9 so I plan on building two separate boxes.

so talking to a couple of guys on another forum and the outcome was I ended up becoming a member of VWDRC..... I don't plan on racing this year due to time and money constraints but I guess it gives me a reason to use the m62 charger I have.... -

the guy had the chains replaced just before he stopped using it and parked it up in his garage. It would have been about 500 miles ago. The noise comes from the left hand side when you face the engine. -

Hi all Well the car starts but it sounds like hell.....It was dry cranked a few times and started. It sounded like there was a stuck tappet. So I gave it a flush with oil and an additive that was recommended but although it has had this done it still sounds rough... anyone fancy some forum diagnostics....here's the vid... http://s844.photobucket.com/albums/ab8/RyanandLindsayMcNeil/all%20things%20corrado/?action=view¤t=DSCF3869.mp4 -
Hi all Since I have a spare vr6 gearbox I plan on stripping it and was going to fit either a 3.6 or a 3.9 but I have noticed that you get a 4.2 final drive. Will this work? If a 3.6 is good and a 3.9 even better then surely a 4.2 must be awesome....;-) I realise the gearing will change so it would rev more on the motorway but it is being built for track days and nurburgring trips so is there a 5th gear that I could change in that would bring the cruising revs back down... Hopefully with the lightened flywheel, paddle clutch and peloquin 80% kit that should be the transmission side of my car s

Wishbones are spot welded together(or they were on my mk1) by seam welding them it stiffens them because although they only travel up and down they still have flex in them

ahhh cheers for that. I didn't see that on the MOD guide. I take it thats the gearbox fitted to the r32...

Hi all I went tp carry out this diy mod on my K plate vr6 and the pictures do not represent anything I can see in the engine bay. I see the two cables and the weighted portion(not like the one in pics) and a 13mm nut on top but it the actual parts don't look like the pics. Anyone any suggestions....do I have a proper early model.... Ryan

cheers kev. I have just received my ms1 v3 which will be getting upgraded to ms3x as I have just bought an eaton m62 with electric clutch......;-)

I have just received my ms1 v3 kit from B&G in america along with the wiring loom and relay board. I plan on running my vr6 on it and will be posting up pics as I install it.

Hi all I have finished rewiring behind the dashboard and the car won't start....The car will turn over but not start. Also I can hear and feel the fuel pump relay click over and I get a voltage reading at one of the wires down the fuel pump side but I don't hear it prime or run when cranking. I also get no fuel in the engine bay as another indication that its not priming. Has anyone any suggestions? I am going to check I do get a voltage at the fuel pump, injectors, coil, and throttle body. Is there anywhere else I should check....And where are the earth points for all these bits in case it is

They are 17" bbs ch painted in la7u pearl grey to match the car and fitted with pirelli p zero nero 40 profile tyres. It had to be 17" to fit over the 312mm brakes. -
Hi all Until winter when I fit the new engine I have decided to fit some items to the vr6 engine. I plan on fitting a cone filter in a home made carbon fibre air box and using the hole the carbon filter sits in to guide the airflow through. My question is do I really need the carbon filter and I take it if I do I will still be able to move it and extend the piping wiring? Also I am fitting a bmw rad with the coolant tank attached to the side. Due to this I can remove the header tank and I plan on fitting an alloy oil catch tank and alloy power steering fluid tank. Since this will free up some

Good idea. You will have to let us know how it goes. I did think about getting some 80a bar and turning it down on the lathe but that is way down the list.

Are solid cast ones off a TT not heavy? I still plan on seam welding my ones. It may work this time or it may not but I have a spare set of wishbones lying about. I'll post pics up when I do it. Like I said I noticed a difference in my last 2 golfs but you may do it and not see any difference:-) but it is cheap and only a case of 10 minutes welding. -
Its probably a good idea that I get hold of a copy or download as no doubt due to the wiring loom fire the car had I will probably have a lot of faults present. Does anyone know where I can download a legal;-) copy or do I really have to buy it....

thanks for the reply. I don't have vagcom but I was reading in the bentley manual about how to bleed the ABS pump without a pressure bleed system. I am going for a full system drain and refill as I will be changing to 5.1. My other question is where are the 6 brake hoses located that can be changed to braided hoses because as far as I can see and I may be looking at it without noticing it but I can only see and have only removed four. 2 from the front brakes and 2 from the rear brakes.

on my mk1 and 2 by seam welding them they stiffened them up as they are only really spot welded together. I thought I noticed a difference but then someone else might try it and say it does nothing..... -
is it about 1l that I need.

Cheers for the comments. I am going to keep a bit of a project post going and will update it when I remember. No pics but I will post some up. Interior wise the rear door cards have been done in carbon fibre and I am just waiting for some front door cards to use as a mould. Hopefully they should arrive this week. The wiring is mainly sorted with the kill switch being the only thing left to do along with the replacement of 3 looms which I will get this week. The fire extinguisher is plumbed in and the rear seat area flushed over with a glass fibre sheet and some carpet. The rear strut brace ha -
Hi all I stripped the callipers off my car today to give them a refurb, paint and to replace the brake hoses with braided ones. I was going to replen the fluid with dot 5.1 but have noticed in the bentley manual that it states not to use 5.1 and only 3. The reason I was going with 5.1 is because I am going to be using the car on tracks and fast road. What do other people use and will I be OK using 5.1? Ryan
