Yesterday I also got my new tyres put on which look loads better than the size I put on originally. Gone for Pirelli P Zero 215/40/17's on 9j rear wheels and 195/40/17's on the 8j fronts...

These are some of the jobs that I have already carried out. I will make better effort to keep updated now I have finally got round to starting a thread
1st job was to replace the split oil breather valve, lucky my mate sorted & found me one for a good price.
    Before...

    After...

The next job as always I give the car a good clean and going over. When I finished the outside I started under the bonnet as it looked as it haven't been done for a while.

Sorry for the bad photo quality it was very sunny that day. I started taking the sound deadening off so I could clean off the stains and clean underneath.
    This is before...

    And this is after...

I used 'Auto glym interior shampoo' I know it's no exactly interior, but it did a good job and now looks almost new

Then I started cleaning a polishing under the bonnet removing years of dirt and grease.

Finished result before refitting the sound deadening...

Then I refitted the sound deadening, it now looks a lot better and pleasing

Then I spotted pine needles and leaves under the plastic scuttle panel. So these had to be removed before any drainage was blocked, didn't fancy leaks into the car.

I will get round to changing the pollen filter, I just gave it a good shake and Hoover for now as I didn't have one at the time.
    Finished results...

Another pleasing job done and adding to slowly making the car better
Then I moved into the interior and started on the leather, they are In brilliant condition so I would like to keep them that way.
I fed the seats fronts and backs of both front and rears, door cards and gear gator and handbrake gator with 'gilptone liquid leather' which I've heard is good stuff! I was happy with the results. It gave a nice non sticky shine once soaked in and so far has lasted well.

I will keep on top of the interior as I want to keep it in the best condition I can.
All was going well, the next day I was driving home from work Friday evening and could smell coolant burning followed by the coolant light appearing on the dash!!! So pulled over and noticed a hose had split and was dripping onto the manifold!!! DOH!
Once home I contacted TPS and Eurocarparts and luckily euros could get one in for 1st thing in the morning, non genuine unfortunately but almost half the price TPS quoted for a genuine one that they couldn't get until Tuesday and It needed to be done so I went for that option.
    Before...

I gave the cooling system a good flush through before fitting the new hose...
    New hose fitted...

Then new coolant was added and it was back on the road.
Then I noticed driving the next day the exhaust was blowing slightly, so with further inspection I've found the back box had gone slightly... Future job to be done. Still deciding on what will be best for replacement. Im thinking stainless cat-back Milltek system at the moment...
    http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/02/5u7evy3u.jpg
Also on Inspection of the exhaust some annoying rust was found!!! I already knew this was there when I bought the car. Didn't realise after removing the grommet & some of the floor pan with it that it was this bad...
    http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/02/gegapazu.jpg
This is on the rear near side floor pan foot well.
So next job is for interior to be stripped out and full inspection to underside of the car, I have a feeling some welding and plating is going to be needing doing very soon!
So that's my progress so far hope you've enjoyed the read and I will know keep updated on the future progress.
    Thanks,
    Chris

If and when it gets painted, it will be in original colours, emerald green pearl. It will never be a rat, nor ever have a roof rack on, be Plasti dipped, hid standard headlights or have any chav aftermarket parts fitted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    It's alive!
Rapid pace getting to this stage, and here is the first run obligatory video.

Got a new wheel bearing fitted and focus was on the exhaust as we are building a prototype for DubPower to bring to market an OEM style exhaust for the Corrado!
New vs my 20 year old standard system...

    Under car shot

    Standard exhaust

First trial fit getting the angle right

    Standard tailpipe

    DubPower tailpipe

The plan next is to ovalise it and give it a more slashcut look to make it more standard looking.
Waiting for the steering rack and for it to be MOT'ed before I can collect it.
    Can't wait!

Hey! Newbie here to the VR6 game, I've had my golf for just over a month now and I'm loving it! Using it as a daily at the moment seeing how it goes.
Thought I would start a thread to show the progress.

    Hi All,
Thought I would make a build for this car as I consider it a car that I will probably keep forever. Ill start with a few pictures of previous cars..
My 2.0 8v Jetta.. 2.0 bottom end, 1.8 p+p cylinder head, 4-2-1 manifold, 900 carbs, 268 newman camshaft. was very good fun for my first attempt at modifying a car.

    Mk1 mx5..

    Mk3 Vr6/Mk2 vr6 build..

    My Current car..
I bought the car from a really good friend about a week after finishing my own mk2 vr6 project car, its a 1991 bright blue metallic OBD1 2.8 vr6, G60 arches, Electric windows, momo team 280 steering wheel, coil overs, full polyurethane bush kit, hydro clutch, corrado front crossmember and fan set up, solid seat front engine mount, amongst a few other cool bits..
the day I bought the car..

Decided for piece of mind I would do the head gasket as it was weeping slightly from the pulley side, ended up having a skim, pressure test, clean up, new stem seals and new valve guides. Wish id have spent longer trying to get a mk4 metal head gasket and stuck some 264 cams in there that i am now saving for when it was all apart but oh well can come apart again. bought other parts that needed doing like chain guides and chain tensioner bolt and all back together and running sweet again.

Then decided the air filter was haggard and I needed a new one, didn't like the old one hanging off the MAF so decided to make ain intake pipe and mod a 1.8T AIT into it and extend my wiring.

Shortly after I found some rust that needed attending to above the rubber fuel filler guard, seems to trap loads of rubbish behind it, cut it out and welded a small new plate in..

seam sealered and undersealed up and all was good again.
Then decided I needed some new wheels as the bbs reps that were on it were pitted, curbed and nasty..bought some 16x8 et30 rota D154s and stuck them on with toyo rubber and some 10mm and 20mm hubcentric spacers and longer bolts to suit

engine bay as it stands.. (plastics are off to get painted gloss black)

just ordered a short shift of a nice chap on here and have also got a gearbox to gearbox brace coming from seat, plans are to fit some 264 newman cams and see if theres anything I fancy doing after.
Probably missed loads from copying images across from other places.
    thanks for reading
    Louis

While the seats were out I took the opportunity to deep clean and rejuvenate the carpet.
Vacuumed all of the carpet 1st, to remove all the lose dirt.
But there was still dirt that was within the shagpile.

So for the next step I used carpet shampoo, and a brush that attached to my buffer.
It's made by chemical guys, and works amazing!

It cleans deep through the shagpile lifting the dirt to the surface, which is then able to be vacuumed away.
I will also be doing the same process to my car mats.

Cleaned the stitching on my steering wheel, as it had gone abit grubby.
New hand brake gator and gear gator with red stitching, in satin leather to match my seats once there back in.

Stitched some cover over the seat belt buckles. They came with velcro attached to them, but looked crap when fitted like that.
So I removed the velcro, and stitched them together.
1st pining them in position. Then sliding down the arm.
Stitching them slightly tighter lower down the arm, as it get wider at the top.
Then pulling them upwards after giving a nice tight fit.

Gave the rear seats a deep clean, using leather deep cleaner, and a detailing brush.
The brush gets in to all the grain and small cracks in the leather, cleaning much deeper.

Using the brush to lather up the leather cleaner, lifting the dirt out with the foam, and whipping down while still wet.
so the dirt could not soak back in.

Once finished cleaning the whole rear seats. There still slightly wet, that why they look abit glossy.

    More to come soon

    Passenger bolster

Then on to spraying the dye,
I used a 1.2mm spray gun, blowing off the leather with and air gun 1st.
After about 4-5 light coats, the 1st couple of layers sucked almost straight in to the leather.

you can still see the grain nicely, but no deep cracks or marks

Then on to the leather finish, i went for a satin finish, to match the rear seats.
I put about 5-6 layer of the finish on.

Remember the mark in the top of the seat. in the photo earlier.

well that's what it looks like now
    They both looked mint!! Until...........
