Ah yeah that would make sense actually. Yeah i know what you mean about the fans, bmw one is massive too in terms of the thickness of it. I'm binning mine and going for a aftermarket slim line but obviously that means chopping wiring which is no good if you want to try n keep that original. -
Here's a shot of the spacer plate lined up with the cylinder head and below is one of reinz gasket..

Does the coolant system not need some kind of expansion bottle though? That would be my only concern with removing the thing completely. At least with the BMW rad it just puts the expansion bottle in a different place. -
Hi guys, So I know everyone recommends using the mk4 MLS headgasket but yesterday I went to install a Victor Reinz metal layered gasket and discovered that one of the holes to allow coolant doesn't actually properly line up with a corrado 12v head! it is only one hole that half overlaps as apposed to lining up bang on. Is this what everyone discovers and doesn't worry too much about it or is something strange going on? I have attached a photo so you can see what I mean: The steel spacer plate the gasket is offered up to in the photo lines up bang on with the cylinder head. but you can see t

Hi guys, I'm moving my Golf to a new workshop next weekend (Saturday 31st Jan.) because of this I'm renting a self drive car transporter for the day. Is there anyone around the London area that needs a car or anything moving? Depending on mileage I'd only want £20-£30 to move something, not looking to make money just cover a bit of the cost of renting the transporter. The trucks got a full winch and rachet straps so no worries if theres a engine or not! Please shout up if this would be useful for anyone or people you know! Cheers, Matt

I second the poly bush option, replaced mine not long ago and the poly bushes just slide in nicely! As for getting the old ones out, I used a saw to cut the metal sleeve running through the middle and a slice in the bush then used a big hammer and chisel to persuade them out. If you have the axel off anyway I would definately replace them!

yeah, some great ideas there too. Love the power steering bottle in the wing!

I just came across this page of a website called sr38.com and wow what a mk2 build! Apologies if youve all seen it before but its new to me and just had to share it! And if the owner uses this forum then good on you! http://www.sr83.com/bynumbuilds/?p=26

Hi guys, I have brought a walbro pump and intend on having play with fitting it tomorrow (weather permitting) I want to ask really, can I choose wether to mount it in line after the stock pump or replace the stock pump in the tank with it? The guy I brought it off was running it in tank as a replacement for the stock pump. If I can run it both ways which set up would be best?

Agree with you Luke, even better that it's quite often followed by confused looks that the noise is coming from a mk2 golf

I didn't think heater matrix was too bad but mines a mk2 golf, maybe that makes it a bit easier? Re-fitting the drivers side wishbone after putting power flex bushes in was by far the most frustrating job for me, the locating washers and spacer tube are an absolute nightmare to fit! Well worth the effort though that said.
