  1. Haha, yeah I have my own busniess called Perfect Paint and Detailing (check out my page on FB) and I have been in the trade for about 10 years now The problem is, I very rarely get enough time to work on my own cars!
  2. Two websites I always find very helpful are: willtheyfit.com and tyrestretch.com understanding offset (or ET) can be tricky at the best of times!
  3. Cool car mate, gotta love an early Passat with a VR under the bonnet
  4. Good going so far bud! I have a spare head and box I will be rebuilding at some point in the future, with no previous experience, but it's great learning along the way
  5. Looking good bud! The US splitter IS shallower, but it's also deeper too, meaning it wont fit a euro golf bumper, unless the splitter is cut down Alternatively, you could get a Vento bumper, as they are the same proportions as the bigger US bumpers
  6. Haha, it was the SWDUBS Mega Meet at Exeter Services and then on to Budleigh Salterton Bealieboy where are you from?
  7. Good day at the meet today, picked up a set of black abc pillar trims and a seat toledo front splitter
  8. I really like the idea as well! Maybe I'll start keeping an eye out for an OBD2 conversion, as I was going to convert my 2.9 to OBD2 in the future! I didn't realise the OBD2's didn't have an ISV though! More knowledge in the bank
  9. OK cool, that gives me a bit more of an idea of what's involved
  10. Ah yeah, that all makes sense! So is the 24v cable already or do you use the 12v TB?
  11. Yeah that does sound a lot better I like the sound of a 24v on 12v management, just purely because of the gains you get and how simple it seems. If I was to got all out I think I'd rather fit an r32 or 20vt BAM engine
  12. I look forward to seeing how you get on To be fair, If I'm changing the engine AGAIN then it's not that much work to change the loom from OBD1 to OBD2!
  13. Hmmm, I wonder if the engine will run with an obd1 ecu........ you got me thinking now lol!
  14. I haven't man! To be fair, I have never had a car with paintwork good enough to get in to detailing lol!
  15. Haha, ah that's interesting! And this is the 4mo 2.8 24v, using the O2a vr6 box right? Did you have to modify the front mount like with the 3.2 R32 conversion?
  16. Looking good bud! which Jetex exhaust have you got? I have recently replaced my 2.25" Scorpion system for a Miltek decat and 2.5 inch Jetex system, and I was thinking about having the centre box deleted, as to my surprise, the Jetex is no where near as loud as the Scorpion system lol!
  17. Looks like an interesting project! Are you using the standard ecu with a map or standalone management? I'd be interested on how the loom was wired into the fusebox
  18. Just a quick post to say I have fitted the short shifter mech and it is brilliant! Great workmanship, fast turn around and great instructions! Highly recommended Here is some pics of the throw reduction to give everyone and idea!
  19. So, on the run up to the local SWDubs Mega meet on Sunday 25th, I have started to give the VR a good clean! I started with a wash this afternoon, tomorrow I will polish up a few bits and give the bodywork a good going over with the claybar, and then Friday I will give the interior a good clean and the bodywork a coat of wax, Saturday I will give it another wax, treat the trim and give it another wash, and then Sunday morning I will give the bodywork a quick going over with the detailing spay
  20. Cheers man, it's finally in a state where I get excited to drive it
