    Nice, those Dibed top mounts? I'm currently running standard rear and gearbox mounts, solid front mount and Dibed top mounts, along with polybushed wishbones and FK Sport Plus coilovers set to the softest dampening setting, I think ill be swapping out the top mounts for OEM ones to see if I like the ride quality better, as it is quite harsh at the moment

    I think I want to try and keep the engine bay as OEM looking as possible, so I will smooth the inside of the airbox ans fit a cold air feed down to the bumper vents I'll look for a good set of red leads that fit in the original lead guides

    I have recently finished converting my Mk3 16v to 2.9 ABV engine with OBD1 AAA loom, ECU, throttle body and MAF. I also have a K&N panel filter, and 2.25 cat back stainless exhaust system. I'm not bothered about top end speed or bhp figures, but usable 0-60 power and torque! What are the best best mods for me? I have a decat and 2.9 TB yet to fit, and I want to get the ecu remapped, but what else can I do without forced induction?

    Found it! For some reason the owner before me had it plugged into the third sensor on the thermostat housing lol! turns out the third sensor (BLACK) is for aircon only so not needed

    The none idle was because I was using the ABV's ecu with the AAA MAF! Changed the ECU to the AAA one and it idles. Then it was bogging down and hesitating at low revs THAT turned out to be the MAF so I changed it for my spare and hey presto I also gave the TB a good clean out and checked the inlet elbow for cracks, ended up swapping that out as well, runs like a dream now! Test drive tomorrow

    I have just fitted the 2.9 ABV into my mk3 over the last two days, when I took the engine out, I left the engine loom connected and just disconnected the main multiplug. Now, it will run, but only with my foot on the throttle, once I take my foot off, the revs drop and cut out. So I got to looking at what could be wrong and noticed there is a temp sensor in the inlet manifold but no plug for it! I looked at a customers OBD2 Highline, and his has the loom plug but mine hasn't! I also looked at the engine loom from the old OBD1 AAA and that also has the sensor but no plug, Why is this??

    There was no immob, turns out I was not getting fuel as the fuse had randomly dissapeared out if the fuse box! Now it won't hold idle.............

    Hmmm, that's what I thought, same as the MK3's use. I didn't see one though! hopefully it's just buried in the big bundle of loom in the footwell lol!

    I didn't think the donor Corrado VR6 I bought for the engine to stick in my MK3 had an immobiliser, but now the engine is in, it won't fire up and there appears to be a transponder chip in the key. Where is the immob box located? I couldn't see it anywhere and didn't remember seeing a signal ring on the ignition barrel!

    Haha, yeah that would be epic! I seriously reckon If i had the money, I'd have a whole aircraft hanger FULL of cars, Machine shop, body shop, mechanical tools, rolling road, diagnostic equipment, two poster ramps four poster ramps, laser alightment, the bloody works!! Nah I haven't seen it bud! I am really hoping I'll be happy with my VR6 NA for a fair while, but in reality I'd love to supercharge or turbo it

    The 2,9 will hopefully be going in, on this coming weekend so until then I can't say. there isnt supposed to be much difference in performance between OBD2 AAA and the ABV engines in stock form though! Either way, my MK3 will be lighter than the Corrado, and a bit lighter than a standard Golf as I have no sound deadening, no carpets and no rear bench at the moment!

    Cheers bud! I should be getting an air ride setup next year sometime before winter when I completely strip down the cab for colour change and bodywork
