  4. wouldnt a lightened flywheel car suffer going uphills? heard of a few exploding flywheel stories and i personally would avoid them unless it was from a company with a good reputation, i have one on my s2000

  9. hi folks, ive been toying with the idea of buying an evo as a bit of a toy which can ferry the family about on nice occasions but with the likelyhood of it getting stolen(everyone i know who has had one has either been attempted or stolen) has put me off buying one for definate and i may throw a bit of money on my mk3 now this has left me thinking, the vr6 engine in my mk3 is around 115k, and after a friends vr6 chain failing him(i think around 200k) and been told by the same friend about getting the chain changed on mine is a very expensive procedure it has got me looking at the 1.8 20v turbo
  10. thanx for the help folks, will find the time this weekend to see what the crack is
  11. there doesnt seem to be no obvious leakage on the floor but im going to put some cardboard underneath and run it up to temperature, water temperature seems fine and the temperature only seems to go halfway up the gauge and doesnt go any further(never heard the fans ever work) but i will get the thermostat and coolant cap changed anyway as i dont think they will be that expensive so i can rule those out many thanx and i will report back just to add, oil is fine, no mayo
  12. hi folks just a quick question really, my mk3 golf vr6 is losing coolant, not a large amount but about half a litre a week, also ive noticed there seems to be pressure in the coolant tank(seems to be bubbling up) any ideas folks cheers
  13. i think it is true that lpg is going to get more expensive, a few years ago i remember lpg being around 49.9 but now its around 79.9 but still its a long way off petrol prices, but that is the only thing stopping me going down the lpg route, and i have read that lpg doesnt give as good mpg as petrol but i also think petrol prices will keep rising too, luckily my everyday car is a toyota aygo lol! ive even considered lpg'ing that too!
  14. hi folks, ive been looking into getting my vr6 converted to LPG recently and im just wondering if anyone else has had this done to theirs? ive been speaking to a guy who has it done to their landrover and he was banging on about it cost him £7 to get to doncaster(a good 100 miles from here) on lpg and cost him over £30 on the way back on unleaded, theres a place round the corner from me carrying out conversions and i have been quoted roughly £1500 to have the vr6 converted, whats everyones thoughts on getting the conversion done? surely its a big investment which will pay off on the long ru
  15. hi folks i bought a set of bbs reps the other week, and altho the 9j rear wheels go on a treat, im having issues with my front wheels(8j), when i fit them with no spacers the wheel sits nicely but sadly the wheels are catching on the calipers and a bit on the brake pads, ive had to fit 6mm spacers on the front to clear them but now the wheels poke out too much! can anyone offer a newbie like me some good advice, ive been thinking of taking a grinder to it and grind some of the caliper and pads away thanx
