  1. Brilliant! The brake switch, is that literally the switch which the brake pedal pushes, similar to those in earlier VW's which controls the brake lights? Accelerator switch.. Part of the TB? Or..? And, you know it was coming... What would be required to upgrade to the later ABS. Off the top of my head, ABS unit (ECU is part of this if I'm right?) full wiring loom, all four ABS sensors, going from the above the brake pedal switch. Anything else?
  2. Easier? Not really. More adjustment. Yes. It's like an eccentric bolt which you insert into the top fixing bolt on the suspension/hub. You can rotate the bolt so that the turret is pushed in and out, then when the desired camber is found you just hold the bolt in its position and tighten the nut. I only used them as my camber was maxed out st like -1.5degrees with no more movement so I needed more play to lessen the camber. If you can get the desired camber with the normal bolts buying these are a waste of time. iirc VW supply OE bolts with a thinner shaft to gain further adjustment in the tur
  3. Just remember that some MK4 calipers have a 1.0 thread pitch for the hoses and others 1.5mm. For some reason VW changed the design and it's unsure of when and what calipers, especially since most calipers are over 10 years old meaning unknown history of what model and year they are from; so it's just pot luck really. I'd advise looking at the thread pitch of your banjo bolt so you can advise the hose supplier before you buy. I received the 1.0 and needed 1.5. C&R sent me some next day FOC. Really good service.
  4. So you have 280mm discs currently and I believe the early style hoses? I would personally go Goodridge for a good upgrade whilst your at it and C&R are a really good price whilst selling 312mm - MK3 hoses at a good price: http://www.candrenterprises.co.uk/shop/goodridge-performance-brake-hoses/car-golfmk31h
  5. Hey all, I'm trying to get my head around the early and late VR6 brake differences. I'm specifically looking at the ABS set up and the servo/MC. I believe in 1995 VW ditched the rear brake compensator, ABS position sensor from the servo and changed the MC to a larger alloy type which is flat facing compared to the earlier which had the 45degree face. Am I correct in saying the the early MC is 23mm and the late 24mm? What about the servos did they change in size? Also, are the late servos and MC's the same as Mk4's? Apologies for the 20 questions, in short I have all the late brake gubbins fro
  6. Here's mine.. She's a work in progress but getting there..
  7. Hey all! I'm planning on getting a Mocal oil cooler on the VR and I plan on removing the existing oil cooler at the same time. I understand I need a specific bolt from merlin motorsport which should screw into an early style cap. Early caps you can unscrew the thread from, where as late are one piece. Or so I've read I'm unsure whether my cap on the car is early or late and I don't want to find out it's the latter when the car is in pieces. I've bought one from ebay which I thought was the early style but when it's arrived it seems like it doesn't want to unscrew.. Its this style (fully metal)
