  1. After swapping the engine in my mk2 I have no speedo. Ive checked the wires checked the all my fuses and the plug. Whats going on?

  4. This is what I thought. But the car runs fine for 5 minutes until it has warmed up slightly so I still dont quite understand whats wrong!

After reading this thread... http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3934082 Ive noticed that when I swapped over the top part of the head, from dizzy to the coilpack, there's a magnetic pick up on the rear cam gear that I never swapped over. Is this necessary to the obd1/2 conversion? Anyone on here had any experience?
  6. After many posts about my Vr running rough when warm after swapping the block over im sure /ive just got some wires crossed somewhere! Has anybody got or can anyone point me in the direction of a wiring diagram with the plugs and colours of the wires in the engine bay. Ive searched but cant really find anything!
  7. As long as its a coil pack not a coil. I.e the black box with the 6 HT leads coming from it bolted on the side of the engine
  8. Dont think the car will make it there pal! I make it about 3 mile before it goes into gay mode and runs like crap. Cheers for the offer though!
  9. I know it goes to the header tank but it tee's off and carries on up to throttle area. Whats it do up there. Any sensors causing it not to run right with it not connected up?
  10. Exactly the same when i unplug the maf sensor. not sure about fuel pressure but like said its like a switch. I can jump in it from completely cold and its fine for 3-4 minutes and drive as quick as i like. Then like a switch it starts running like a bag of pooooo
  11. As above. What is this hear for? Does it have anything to do with the choke or mechanical running of the car? As it snapped off from here when I was doing my engine swap and now runs like crap. Would have thought this would affect it to the extent it is.
  12. Got a mk2 Vr that needs a diagnostics test/fault codes test. Although I dont think it has the port installed. Has anyone got the ability to plug it in somehow and get me a reading? Im in tamworth!

    Piss take when the cars not running right and i did have a spare everything until sunday! And now expect me to pay for the parts I need and a diagnostic test on the car, where I could have just swapped bits till I found the problem!

    I replaced the gearbox as well. The plug was plugged in properly :/ I did have a spare gearbox until my amazing parents decided to give my spare block, sensors, spares and box to the metal man!!

    I have the mk3 clocks and i did have a very lively fuel gauge but it seems to have settled down now!

    My mk2 vr6 the bottom end went. Ive replaced the whole block and head and gearbox and now my speedo doesn't work. Any ideas what it could be? Also could this be linked to my other problem? The car runs perfectly fine from completely cold then after 3-5 mins of driving the engine is completely gutless and runs like a pig????
  20. The car was an obd2 and i bought an obd1 engine. Got rid of the dizzy and put all my obd2 stuff on. And as said runs perfectly fine untill it warms up a bit then runs like a pig
  21. The temp sensor is the same as the one that came off the car when it was running fine.....
  22. Ok i have the Vr in my mk2 and after a big slap of misfortune the bottom end went. I have replaced the whole block and bolted on all my obd2 parts. It runs perfectly fine when cold, and will do for around 3-5 minutes then like a switch it will start running badly, no power like the timings out or a cylinder down. Changed all plugs, changed thermostat, Unpluged one ht lead at a time and every one takes a cylinder out with a audible difference so definately running on all 6! Haven't a clue what it is so any help much appreciated!
