  1. Fitted oil cooler today. Mare! Crack pipe snapped, fo flips sake. Tps want 100 quid, and no stock. Ended up drivin 20mile to a breakers paid 20 for crack pipe. Took a total of 4 hours to change cooler and crack pipe, not a happy bunny. But good news is iam 99% it was the cooler leakin.
  2. Thinkin back when i removed the cooler, there was water. I called my mech mate who told me there wasnt supposed to be water, the wter stays in the pipes well away from the oil. So mayb the cooler is cracked inside, fingers crossed. Where is TONYVRT?
  3. Problem is cost, head gasket aint cheap. I think its the cooler. Did the gasket on it a few weeks ago. Noticed water then. But ignored it (dumb). There fairly cheap as well so its worth ago. If it was the head the oil goes caramel color, and i havent found any signs of that. Worth a try.
  4. Looks like theres a dash of oil in the bottle. Oil on the surface. Hope its the cooler. Iam off monday so ill bob it to a local engine spec. If its the hg then ill be swopin the engine. Anyone got a good obd2 lump for sale? Not having any luck with cars, my other car (clio 172) blew its gear box on thursday!
  5. Just noticed wot looks like oili in water bottle! The dipstick is clean oil, no cream. The oil cap has a slight white on it, i think this is condensation. Car isnt used much. Car dosnt overheat and works fine. Is it head gasket or oil cooler? How do i check? Thanks.
  6. Since ive allready got the vw/bmw adaptors i may use a spare set of 15" 328 alloys that are behind my garage. There 7" wide with the same low offsett as the current big bm wheels. Was thinkin fit em with 195 45s, with the 20mm adaptors this will push the rim right out, never seen a golf on 15" bm alloys.
  7. Fed up of my m3 wheels catching, there just to big and car is too low. Theres no way its goin higher. So iam goin euro. Got a set of 15" steel rims. And sum skinny tyres. Question is wot color? I wana paint em a color. Current m3 wheels are orange, v bright. Not doin steels orange, was thinkin light/powder blue. Dunno? Car is mullberry, quick pic. (ignore dodgy paint on the front end) http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb437/964russ/20130311_121109_zps0ebbf710.jpg
  8. My car is v low, sump is dented in. Ive read that a alloy mk4 r 32 sump fits a mk3 vr, and is higher up. So wont hit the floor. Is this true? A straight swop?
  9. Iam running 17" bmw m3 rims with a 20mm adaptor, car is low very low. Ive had issues with them catching with 205 40s so thought id try a little stretch. Bought a pair of 185 35 s, fitted on a 7.5" rim there very stretchy. Probably too much. Now they dont rub, but look a bit mad. Elastic band, with the rim edge visible. Is this legal? Safe? Any one else run stretched tyres? May have to get sum 195 40s.
  10. Left plug hanging, plumbed breather in and made up a heat shield. Along wiv stainless pipe sounds great.
  11. I run yella stuff on my porka and my bm (track car). Cant fault em. Only use ate super blue, just dosnt boil up.
  12. Recently got a vr6 highline, it had a cheap cone filter. The breather pipe was left hanging! So ive found the correct k&n, this has a pipe to connect the breather but allso has a vw sensor fitted to it. This sensor, wots it for? Temp? Does it connect to the plug on the top of the breather, the cold start valve thingy. Ill take a pic in the morning. Thanks.
  13. Had a go at arch rolling with the old wings that i replaced last week. Beat 1 flat and the paint flaked off, warmed the paint with a heat gun and it bent back with paint intact! Looks like ill b having a go a weekend on the vr.
  14. Fitted bmw m3 wheels to golf vr, they are a lot wider than the standard rims. And even thou fitted with stretched skinny tyres they are rubbing. Was thinking of buying a wheel arch roller from ebay, anyone done this them selves?
