When did you see it on ed38. Trying to find out any history on it tbh. The lad I got it from didnt know a lot about it. He thought it was an OBD1 and it's actually a 2. Your cabbie looks nice m8. Sent from my SM-T211 using Tapatalk

Nice one. Cheers. Just ordered a full hose kit for it also. Looking at replacing the air intake too and also the manifold. I'll get it remapped before it goes back on road. I miss it already though lol. My 1.8 just isn't the same!! Sent from my SM-T211 using Tapatalk

That's a good idea actually especially with the mods I have planned. Whats the best chain kit? Or are they pretty much all good. Sent from my SM-T211 using Tapatalk

Mileage is about 130,000 and no history of the engine. The lad I bought it from told me if was an OBD1 but infact is a OBD2. Sent from my SM-T211 using Tapatalk

I've took my VR off road for the winter. Only bought it in the summer and the and I keep finding problems with the conversion, nothing major just little shortcuts that im not happy with. I'm in the process of taking out the aircon (not needed in a cabbie!) and tidying up the wiring in the engine bay. What are the head gaskets like? I'm changing the rocker gasket so am I worth while doing the head too? The engine sounds sweet and has been running fine temperature wise. Any help would be good, cheers. Well after stripping out the interior I noticed sounds I'd not heard before from the rear. A bit of investigation and I've found both rear wheel bearings are gone, 1 snapped spring, 1 leaky shocker and 2 knackered rear mounts. So I thought I'd best check the front :S . I found there knackered top mounts. So spent the last week shopping!! Decided that it would be best just building 2 new axles and then swap them over. Wire brushed them down and treated them with black Hammerite. The rear axle came with Koni dampers which I've greased up and work mint. I bid on some springs on ebay from Germ

The mpg doesn't really bother me. My smiles per miles far out weighs the cost!!

Yeah looks like a day job next week. Need to get it done sooner rather than later though. I'll post up pics of the mess!! And 11mpg!! Wow!
-
Might explain why I'm only getting 20-25mpg. I just thought it was my heavy right foot lol. I'll have to get this replaced. Cheers Just done some more reading on this. Probably going to install a catch tank instead of replacing the pcv. See how it goes.

I now work for a camper conversion company. We convert VW Transporters (& other lesser vans) into campers & surf buses. I've done car audio & security for the last 15 years so this is just on a bigger scale. Really lucky in that I actually enjoy my work!!
