  1. Car back up for sale. Price dropped. £750
  2. Had this on the market in January but I've been away with work since then. Back up for sale again as complete project before I break it. https://www.gumtree.com/p/volkswagen/volkswagen-golf-mk3-vr6/1213500451
  3. Hi mate, I know you said you can't travel to scotland but I just put my vr6 back up for sale just incase you could be tempted to travel north! It's a good project for someone and I've dropped the price to sell ASAP so good budget option and still MOT'd until October. Gumtree link below; https://www.gumtree.com/p/volkswagen/volkswagen-golf-mk3-vr6/1213500451
  4. Yes mate, It's still for sale. I had to go back to sea in February and didn't manage to get it sold before I left. It's lying at my dad's work with a for sale sign on it in Kilmarnock at the moment but haven't been trying that hard to sell it. It's MOT'd until October but I've SORN'd it as it's not been out on the road. If you're interested let me know and I can give you contact details for my dad who can arrange viewing it. Cheers
  5. I have owned this VR6 since 2013, during this time the car has covered less than 7000mls I bought the car as a drive-able on-going project and this is what it is being sold as. The car is by no means the best example you will find around but will give someone good value fun! Prices of good examples are on the rise now and this would make a great project for someone. I will try to be as honest in the advert as possible and list all good and bad points below; - Valid MOT until October 2017 - Welding done for last MOT so should be no welding required at next
  6. Hoping the car goes to someone who is interested in VW and will get it back to a good standard.
  7. This car was for sale in January, I've been away with work since then and I'm now trying to sell it again as a complete project before I break it. Price dropped to sell. See gumtree link below for all details. https://www.gumtree.com/p/volkswagen/volkswagen-golf-mk3-vr6/1213500451
  8. I have heard of MAF sensors being affected afterwards but as Lukey said I think that's from over-oiling. I also saw somewhere that people "pre-suck" (technical term) them with a vacuum!
  9. Not sure if it's a wet or dry filter. Its a BMC CDA, not sure about the internal filter, I figured they were all the same and just needed cleaning and re-oiling.
  10. I thought about that this morning, just using some washing powder detergent and giving it a soak and a rinse through, but for the sake of a few quid I may as well get the proper detergent cleaner. The kit's have oil in them for re-oiling the filter after it's been cleaned too, I'm not 100% sure what the purpose of oiling them is, whether it helps catch dirt or helps the air flow, I don't know but I'll give it a go anyway. Think I'll give the K&N kit a shot!
  11. Just got a second hand BMC CDA system and want to give a good clean before I fit it. The BMC cleaning kit is around £20 compared to the K&N air filter service kit which is less than a tenner. Does anyone know of any reason why I shouldn't just use the K&N kit?
  12. Please excuse the filth, she desperately needs a wash.
  13. I just had it out for a run this morning and had to take the nearside back shocker off again and turn it round as the tyre was just catching the spring carrier when turning sharp left. So going by that, I only have a few mm in there as it is. Anyone want a set of 17" wheels?! I think I'll try and sell the wheels and be a bit more sensible about buying the next set, I want to fill the arches a wee bit but without much of a spacer. Probably better off with a narrower wheel with offset <40
  14. I'll try a wheel on there at the weekend then and see how it looks for space. I really don't want to screw up how the car drives though so I might try and shift the wheels on and get a set of 16"s then! Cheers Lukey, I just think thats a bit too low profile for me, I had P-zeros on my old Volvo that size and it wasn't a nice ride!
  15. Looking at Toyo T1R or ContiSport 3. Most likely the Toyo's though, there's about £30 a tyre difference and the Continentals seem to wear pretty quick!
  16. It's not coilovers, they're Koni STRT shocks and H&R springs. I think you're right though, not sure I'll get them in there without a pretty big spacer. I might get an old tyre stuck on one of the wheels and try it on. Otherwise I might have to shift the wheels on and get something that definitely will fit.
  17. Sorry for another " Will these wheels fit " post but here's my dilemma. I have had my VR6 for almost a year now and just starting to make some modifications. I've just fitted A Koni lowering kit which has dropped it roughly 30mm from standard, I picked up a set of 17" wheels last week as I thought they were a good price. The trouble is, looking at the wheels next to the car I can't work out if they're going to fit once I've got tyres on them! The wheels in question are 17 x 7.5 and ET 55 which seems like a big internal offset to me! I don't want to go spending a few hundred quid
  18. There might not be any rush, Just fitted new shocks and springs this morning and not so sure the 17" wheels I picked up cheap are going to fit in there now
  19. Can anyone recommend cheapest place for tyres? Probably looking for Continental unless anyone has any slightly cheaper but still good recommendations?
  20. That's what I thought but wasn't til after I clicked "Buy it Now" that I thought I should check! Cheers
  21. This might sound like a stupid question but, will a set of rear lights from a Mk3 Gti go straight on a Mk3 VR6?
