ASKMID and type your registration number in. Just lie when it asks "is this your vehicle?" Yes LINK

I used to have an old LandRover petrol, if you turned the key (no steering lock as it was a series 2A) off when running down hill and kept the accelerator pressed for a few seconds then turned the key back on it would ignite the petrol that had gone into the cylinders and make a huge bang, to the point the back box left the vehicle! Doesn't work on modern cars with an electric fuel pump.

A mate of mine is selling a rally prepared Nova with a Vauxhall red top in there on Jenvy's, that is a rapid little car, doesn't need MK 4 headlights though.

...........then again no it isn't. Feel free to post your comments on this gents, not sure it will catch on myself..

VR6 in a MK 1, sounds like a good project, looking forward to seeing this. I did consider a couple of years ago doing a MK 1 with an ABF 2.0 16V engine in there and then possibly a low pressure turbo set up also, 2 reasons this did not happen, 1, I couldn't find a good MK 1 for my budget. 2, I got rid of a MK 3 with the ABF engine in I was going to use. Good luck with your build.

here is a cheap kit with a list of what you get, this does not include short intake, head spacer (decompression) injectors or ecu remap and this kit is for the 24 valve but you get the picture. I have been told differing output on standard internals, from 400-500bhp should be ok, this is what I have been told. TURBO KIT

Turbo and cheap can not exist in the same sentence as I am finding out. I started off with about a grand for my turbo project, so far I am about to hit 2 grand and I still need injectors and all the rolling road map etc so I am expecting another grand by spring. The lads at the Phirm told me to budget 5-6 grand!! I could have bought a fast car for that money but I have started so I will finish I was offered this turbo for free but I thought it might be too laggy (I don't know who the guy is)

I was a bit close have to agree, however when we hit the 50 mph section we were doing 70, the Astra braked instead of moving over to brake. This made the inside lane car pass us and nearly get squashed. I always run a camera now because of what I see on the roads and also because I do so many miles it is a good thing to have.

Reasons why young driver insurance is so high and a clear example of not using the mirrors.

OOH! Look what I got today, things are progressing now, just injectors now and the spanners will get an outing too. Thanks to United Motorsports for arranging this for me and The Phirm, nice talking to those guys this morning. -

No worries, I still have no idea what the issue was as I just switched the whole unit out and fitted a second hand one from an S3, the stripped one is in my garage doing nothing.
-
No, because the wheelspin is detected by the front wheels, we turned a rear and in turn a front rotated also when the ignition is switched off the Haldex does not activate because of the lack of electricity
-
problem mine had was that with all 4 wheels off the ground, if you rotated one of the wheels, all the others turned also, also a bad noise when turning. My reference to checking or testing the haldex was when it is out the car, there must be a way to bench test it to see if it engages and disengages properly.
-
Do you need to know the rules of Rugby? If you, here is a brief explanation.........
-
Mine could well be the Haldex controller, however, not too sure how you test it? Also Haldex are reluctant to sell direct to the public so I guess a controller has to come from a dealer? Not sure though as I haven't pursued it.
-
What is wrong with your diff? I took mine apart because it was locking the whole system up, all four wheels were driving somehow. I bought a second hand diff from an S3 and swapped them over, hence taking this one apart with a view to finding out what was wrong with it and having a spare.
-
No mate, really easy job, first use a slide hammer or similar to remove the driveshaft cups, then undo the ring of bolts on each end plate and of course the ring of bolts around the Haldex bit too, you should then be able to remove the pinion and differential etc easily. Then it is same again for the haldex bit, just remove all the bolts and split, although there is nothing repairable inside the unit as spare parts are not available, I even tried to contact Haldex in Scandinavia but they were not forthcoming with service items. So to answer your question, it is easy to strip and rebuild

Swivelonit's MK 4 VR6T 4 Motion

Not sure on an exact figure, we have a target of 400bhp, but if I get 300bhp I would be happy, than I can take the next step to 400 and so on, will probably stop at 400-450 though as I am not throwing £000's into this car, it is a bit of fun for the weekend and track days, sprints etc. We are taking a day by day approach to it and we will just see how it all maps out. -

All the bits in the box look good, I just hope I can fit them all together to achieve the desired result lol. Only thing I still have to get are injectors, these will be 630cc I think, 60 lb was also mentioned, so this is still a grey area as to what to buy or find. -

United Motorsport have emailed, my low compression head spacer is in stock and ready to collect, so I am off to Hook on Monday to pick it up. Serious business can start then, a bit of head removal amongst other things. Thanks UM. -
If anybody is selling a 7" tablet with WiFi and Bluetooth I want a cheap one just as a touch screen in the Golf to work with an ELM327 and Torque app. It can be old as long as it works, not bothered about storage size either. Just to throw my 2 pence in, I would go for an iPad also, oh I did, a Mac Book too and an iMac and iPhone 5, you could say I like Apple, the reasoning behind my choice is ease of use and compatibility, Apple is a lifestyle choice and not a product. Android tablet for in the car as these are usually cheaper than "i" things
